Meet Obama’s New Pastor

posted by dgilgoff | 4:29pm Thursday April 10, 2008

The Brody File has posted recent video of Barack Obama’s new pastor, Otis Moss III, who replaced Jeremiah Wright upon his recent retirement. It’s fiery, but not nearly as radioactive as Wright calling America the “U.S. of KKK-A”:
If this kind of video winds up causing a major outcry, God-o-Meter can’t see how Obama can worship in most black churches in this country without generating such outcry. The Obama campaign posted some tamer video of Moss earlier this year on its faith site:9

On The Religious Left, Great Expectations
The first priorities for Barack Obama's administration will be the economy and a variety of foreign policy issues. But the burgeoning religious left, which worked so hard to get Obama elected, expects some movement on its issues, including a robust White House office of faith-based initiatives, pove

Howard Dean's Vindication
God-o-Meter wrote a piece for today's Roll Call on the vindication of Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean's much-derided 50-State Strategy, which is largely about reaching out to the nation's more religious voters in the red states: Years before Barack Obama showed that a liberal Demo

A Post-Election Chat with Ralph Reed
Amid today's talk that Barack Obama has narrowed the God Gap, God-o-Meter checked in with Ralph Reed, who spearheaded religious outreach for George W. Bush's 2000 and 2004 campaigns and who pioneered such outreach for Republicans as executive director of the Christian Coalition. What surprised you i

More Innacurate Faith Storylines From the Media
God-o-Meter is struck by the number of faith-based storylines the news media appear to have gotten dead wrong this year. One was the line that Obama was poised to make big gains among white votes, especially evangelicals, who were undergoing a generational shift in their political thinking and reexa

Jesus Christ lives deep inside our hearts; let’s start talking to Him. He answers me…. try it… you might get an answer, too…
Other people really don’t infuence a free thinking person….
I was raised a John Wesley Methodist which I enjoyed most of the time… but all I remember is the Love I shared with some of the members….

We as American African who have been through the struggles for our right…should alway speak out at negative things that are said about our strong black leaders letting them know that we are not going to put up with all of the injustice any more.
When George Bush was running for president did they bring up all these issues with him..NO! How he steal the presidency from Al Gore…because Al Gore won the presidenccy by 48% of the votes when Bush only had 47%. When must stand up as black American and say we are tried of all of the unrighteous things that are going on and pull together so that we can stand as a strong race of people…let’s stop pulling each ohter down when one reach the top. Let’s start reaching down and start pulling some of the one that are still down in the barrel up with love, understanding, respect, scentivity, graditude, and dignity to more forward as a strong race of people.
We have to back Obama and all of our other Black Leaders. Don’t forget the Dream that Dr. King was killed for.
Blessing!

Just a comment on Steff’s letter. Sir, do you not understand the principles of our Constitution and the electoral college? Weary is the man who complains about the rules after the contest. Bush won, get over it. Secondly, the reason President Bush did not come under the same scrunity that Obama has is because he is not a member of a church which espouses the vitriol and hatred that Obama is. Obama has had 20 years to listen and 20 years to leave. He has chosen, his right, to stay and must endure the repercussions of his decision. There are consequences for your actions and Obama is paying for his actions. In the sermon that Moss spake, he makes the false assumption that the lepers were placed in the colonies because of some ethnic bigotry. The lepers were placed in the colonies to protect those who were not infected by this dreadful and contagious disease. It was God who healed them, not the enemy. In the New Testament, the lepers were healed by whom? Was it not our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ?

THE BLACK CHURCH IS THE BLACK CHURCH. I WOULD NOT DISPUTE ANY MESSAGE THAT GOD HAS PLACED IN THE HEARTS OF THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN HIM. THEREFORE I WOULD NOT DISPUTE THE MESSAGES THAT GOD LAID ON THE HEART OF REV. WRIGHT, NOR WOULD I LEAVE HIS CHURCH OR DENOUNCE HIM. I WOULD ONLY SAY THAT GOD DID NOT LAY THE SAME MESSAGE ON MY HEART. GOD IS GOD. HE GAVE MESSAGES TO NOAH, MARY, JOSEPH, ABRAHAM AND MANY OTHERS WHOM WE FIND HARD TO BELIEVE. MAYBE WE BEST START BELIEVING AGAIN BEFORE GOD DECIDES TO GIVE US A SHOW AND TELL OF WHAT HE IS SAYING. THE BLACK CHURCH HAS ALWAYS BEEN A PLACE OF FAITH FOR BLACK PEOPLE. WE HAD PRAYER, NOT DOCTORS, LAWYERS OR PSYCHIATRIST. WHEN WE CAME BROKEN ON SUNDAY MORNING AFTER A HARD WEAK WITH THOSE WHO DID NOT LOVE US, WE COULD SHOUT AND SCREAM AND GOD WOULD GIVE US STRENGTH FOR ANOTHER WEEK. WE EVEN UNDERSTOOD THE TRIALS OF THOSE WHO SHOUTED. WE UNDERSTOOD THE HOLY SPIRIT CATCHING ONTO US AND HEAL US. WE CALLED IT THE HOLY GHOST. IF YOU HAVE NOT FELT THIS KIND OF RELIGION, DON’T KNOCK IT. I KNOW OF CANADIAN INDIAN TRIBES WHOSE MEDICINE MEN CAN CAUSE DEATH TO AN ENEMY WHO IS MILES AWAY. ALSO OTHER TRIBES WHO CAN CALL EVIL SPIRITS TO CAST SPELLS. THE UCC AND REV WRIGHT HAVE NOT DONE THIS. THEY HAVE LEFT THE VENGENCE TO GOD. HOWEVER, LIKE DAVID, THERE IS NO HARM IN ASKING GOD TO FIGHT OUR BATTLES HOWEVER HE SEES FIT. HE WILL BLESS THOSE WHO BLESS HIM. I’M GRATEFUL FOR REV. WRIGHT. WHEN MOST BLACK FAMILIES WERE SEGREGATED MOST OF THEM WENT TO THIS KIND OF CHURCH. FAMILIES WERE TOGETHER, CHILDREN WERE OBEDIANT, NO ONE ON WELFARE, WE FED ONE ANOTHER AND TOOK CARE OF EACH OTHERS CHILDREN. WE COULD ALL LEARN FROM THAT TIME.

Let’s let go and let God. If you are not black you cannot understand what we have endured and how we have had to smile while enduring it. Yet, we are always forgiving and ready to work with anyone who wishes to do good. Barack Obama is a man, a flawed man, who has done more than most to help the downtrotten, regardles of race. He is not an elitist, he is a man, who is half black and half white, who has worked tirelessly to be successful in the America that white people praise every 4th of July. He is living the American dream and wants all of us, black, white, yellow, red, GREEN Aliens, and others to have the same hance he and his wife had to realize the American Dream. It’s everyone’s turn to live in peace and experience prosperity.
Let the man help all of us realize our dreams and an America for all.
May God Bless Him and the Media leave him alone.
Oh yes, I am originally from Lynchburg, Virginia and am well aware of the damage a pastor can do its people if you are weak. Obama is not weak!
