On The Religious Left, Great Expectations
The first priorities for Barack Obama's administration will be the economy and a variety of foreign policy issues. But the burgeoning religious left, which worked so hard to get Obama elected, expects some movement on its issues, including a robust White House office of faith-based initiatives, pove

Howard Dean's Vindication
God-o-Meter wrote a piece for today's Roll Call on the vindication of Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean's much-derided 50-State Strategy, which is largely about reaching out to the nation's more religious voters in the red states:
Years before Barack Obama showed that a liberal Demo

A Post-Election Chat with Ralph Reed
Amid today's talk that Barack Obama has narrowed the God Gap, God-o-Meter checked in with Ralph Reed, who spearheaded religious outreach for George W. Bush's 2000 and 2004 campaigns and who pioneered such outreach for Republicans as executive director of the Christian Coalition.

More Innacurate Faith Storylines From the Media
God-o-Meter is struck by the number of faith-based storylines the news media appear to have gotten dead wrong this year.
One was the line that Obama was poised to make big gains among white votes, especially evangelicals, who were undergoing a generational shift in their political thinking and reexa

Progressive means anti-Christian when compared to what Jesus was quoted as saying, and what the Apostles wrote and taught. It is not surprising that two “progressive” Democrats are celebrating the attempt to make Humanism look acceptable to Christians.

dan, i’d be interested to hear you weigh in on rod parsley’s comments. do you think the issue’s been “underplayed” by the media, given how much uproar there was about rev. wright.

Let’s see, McCain has not impressed the Religeous Right, angered Catholics, voted against Dr. King Holiday and now he ignore the progressive Christians. Is there any Christians that he can appeal to left?
Regarding the comment of Man o’ man, re-read your scriptures before you comdemn other Christians view points. Progressive Theology is more opend hearted than most conservative teaching that I have hear lately. Christ is Mercy and acceptance with forgiveness and contrition.

Andrea,
I’ll weigh in re: Parsley on the blog later today, but you’re right to note what a coup the debate is for Faith in Public Life. This is an organization that didn’t even exist during the 2004 election cycle, and now its invitations are being accepted by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. That’s lightning-fast stature building.

Man o’ man – How do you define progressive? Not being for war? Not hating homosexuals or others who disagree with you? The scriptures taught love….not judgement. If that is progressive I want to be progressive. I don’t believe what conervative, fundamental, fanatical preachers teach is what Jesus taught. Just my opinion.
