Two weeks after the California Supreme Court legalized gay marriage, The New York Times reports that New York State will begin recognizing gay marriages from California, Massachusetts, and other countries.
And because California, unlike Massachusetts, lacks a law preventing gay marriages granted there from being recognized elsewhere, other states may follow suit. At the very least, gay couples will return from wedding ceremonies in California to sue for legal recognition of their unions in their home states.
To the Christian Right, this is the nightmare scenario that it has spent the last few years arguing merits a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. The movement is determined to make this an issue in 2008. How long can John McCain hold out on weighing in?

Gotta love how demons debate: "I'm starting to think Donny protests too much on this issue. Could it be that you are a closet gay man, Donny? That you have dreams that you have pushed back into the recesses of your mind because of guilt? That you have incredible self hatred because of the feelings you have towards men?
Sounds to me like you have issues, Donny.

Then I must be a bank robber too. I also don't think mafia techniques for getting back deliquent loaned money is acceptable to the New Testament canon. So, I'm a made man too? Then again, it is not me that holds to the "anything goes" lifestyle as it is in the - uh hem - gay lifestyle. Or should I write gaylesbianlifestyle.today.com?
The Gay Agenda is as real as the democrat desire to tax the hell "into" everybody.
It's fascinating to see Bible prophecy coming to light in such a modern day as this. The Devil is having his day . . .

"Yes, Donny has issues (not to mention delusions). Plus, he can't quite seem to stay on topic - jumping to how gay people are treated in public schools, lying to try to convince others that gay people 'recruit', or that homosexuality is a 'choice'."
///
Hmmm, then why the need for "Questioning Youth" tagged onto the Gay Agenda in public schools? It's what the Q means in GLBTQ. All children are questioning youth. Pure recruitement technique by the GLBTers. Creepy for sure. Time for a lawsuit there by decent parents everywhere. And violating the design of the human body "sexually" is quite the choice. Or, of course it could be rape as well. Which is it Ex-Pent?
///
Ironically, his statement, "It is far past time to push for a seperation of sexuality and state." actually upholds a very noble concept, much more eloquently stated by former Justice Minister (and later Prime Minister of Canada) Pierre Trudeau, who said that (yes indeed), "The state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation."
///
But not like Canada. Notice the "age of consent" is tiny teens, of course. Nothing noble about pederasty. Any more, that is huh Ex-Pent?
///
"Donny seems to very much want to be in the bedrooms of gay people across the land. What does that tell you?"
///
Yet, it is the very words "Gay" and "Lesbian" that denote sexual tastes. How inhospitable to the stranger . . ., or to the person in the cubicle next to the gay or lesbian, that doesn't see the need to wear sex acts on their sleeves. Literally.
///
"Equally ironically, his statement, 'It's a civil rights issue whose time has come.' is so true, but just not in the sense Donny intended".
///
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
That means, Ex-Pent, gays and lesbians et al, Christians are free to KEEP homosexuality a sin and inappropriate "for Christians." Take note during the ENDA lawsuits and the grievances coming soon Congress via a Church harassed by Gay Activists (Soulforce and Co.) near you (in America).
Time was, here on Beliefnet, that when you called another poster a "demon", you would get permanently banned.
Seems the religious right make exceptions for one of their own.

"All children are questioning youth. Pure recruitement technique by the GLBTers. Creepy for sure."
The only thing "creepy" is your unsteady grasp of reality, Donny. Yes, all youth are questioning, and for the vast majority of them, they will find that the answer to their question is that they are, indeed, heterosexual. But for others (the ones you don't seem to care a fig for), the answer will be that they are gay. Or bisexual. Or (GASP!!! HORRORS!!!!!) possibly even transgender. No "recruitment" necessary - or possible - one either is or one is not. (Or, could you
"Time for a lawsuit there by decent parents everywhere."
Of course, in your 'mind', gay folk couldn't possbly be "decent parents" (or parents at all). Delusional as usual, I see.
"And violating the design of the human body "sexually" is quite the choice. Or, of course it could be rape as well. Which is it Ex-Pent?"
I love it when people like you continue to liken our relationships to rape. I encourage you to do it as often as possible, because when thinking people read comments like that, they know that it isn't true and you are perceived as being even less believable than usual. As for your idea of the "design of the human body" (and its supposed "violation"), I know enough heterosexual men who enjoy being on the receiving end of anal and oral intercourse to know that you haven't the foggiest notion of which you speak. Of course, in your 'mind', the only possibility in our relationships is either a "violation" of some imagined "design" or "rape". Real "Christian" of ya, Donny. Not.
"Notice the "age of consent" is tiny teens, of course."
Although I pity your ignorance, I am still more than happy to educate you. It is 16 years of age (with some close-in-age exceptions, meaning 14- and 15-year-olds can have sex with someone who is less than five years older), as it is in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas (with some exceptions as low as 14), Connecticut (with some exceptions as low as 15), Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland. Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersy, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania (with some exceptions as low as 13), and Utah. Glad to have helped educate you. "Ignorance is the curse of God; knowledge, the wings wherewith we fly to Heaven." - Wm. Shakespeare
"it is the very words "Gay" and "Lesbian" that denote sexual tastes"
As if the word "straight" doesn't. U 2 funnee. Sometimes.
"Christians are free to KEEP homosexuality a sin and inappropriate for Christians"
If America were a Christian nation, you might have a point, Donny. Besides, many Christian denominations disagree with you. (You must hate that. Almost as much as you seem to hate gay people.) Meanwhile, a whole lot of other "sinners" (actual rapists, murderers, thieves, slanderers, adulterers, embezzlers, child-molesters, etc.) are entirely free to marry, so long as it's heterosexually. Odd that you pick and choose which "sinners" are acceptable for "marriage" in your particular branch of the body of Christ, Donny. Sure glad I don't attend there. Too much singing of "Nearer to God Than thee", methinks.
"Take note during the ENDA lawsuits and the grievances coming soon Congress via a Church harassed by Gay Activists (Soulforce and Co.) near you (in America)."
First you don't want gays in your Church pews; now you don't even want them to be able to hold jobs in America (ENDA). If any lawsuuits happen, you have only yourself to blame. Exclusion is not part of "whoseoever will may come", much as you don't like it.
Donny, it's so (too) easy to refute your false musings. Keep 'em coming. It reveals the real you so much more than you will ever understand. And I doubt it attracts many to the Christ.
