Earlier this week, God-o-Meter noted that one of the Democrats' top faith strategists, Eric Sapp of Common Good strategies, had helped the Clinton campaign arrange a Chelsea Clinton church appearance in North Carolina, prompting GOM to wonder aloud if Common Good--the Democrats' primary faith consulting shop--had officially signed up with Clinton. It turns out that Common Good is still neutral in the race.
But there's a twist. Common Good has assigned Sapp to be a liaison to the Clinton campaign and Mara Vanderslice, the firm's other top strategist, to be the liaison for Barack Obama's campaign. It's unusual for the principals of a political firm to be split this way--aren't they just battling each other?--but God-o-Meter's told that it will get more information next week.
