When James Dobson ripped into Barack Obama on his radio program yesterday, his denunciation came through loud and clear in the headlines. But it's worth noting that the head of Focus on the Family saved a bit of his ire for Obama's Republican rival, John McCain, as well. In remarks near the end of the half-hour program, Dobson expressed "disappointment" with what he said was the McCain campaign's relative silence on a bill in the Arizona state senate to place a state constitutional amendment outlawing gay marriage before Arizonans in the fall.
"This is in his state," Dobson said, adding that Arizona's Republican state senators were not being sufficiently forceful in pushing forward the legislation. Speaking to Tom Minnery, Focus's vice president specializing in public policy, Dobson added, "And as you said, the Senator has not said a word about it. That is very disappointing. So this is a year when we have a lot of frustration with both political parties."
Dobson has made his particular frustrations with McCain clear before, so these remarks may not come as a total surprise to McCain.

Well, he got attention today too. He may be desperate for attention, but Dobson does get it.
Maybe McCain's silence on the gay marriage issue is because he at least understands how un-Constitutional it is to exclude minorities from the protections it's supposed to provide to all citizens.
Dobson just doesn't get that. Or he hates that the Consitution's equal protection clause means exactly that.
Besides, didn't Arizona already reject a gay marriage ban? Oh yeah, right, they did - in 2006.
I don't feel sorry for Dr. Dobson or the religious right. They made their bed by allowing McCain to win the nomination, and so they will just have to sleep with their decision. Romney would have brought back a coalition of social and fiscal conservatives. They missed a great opportunity to show that they are willing to work with others in the republican party.
I do feel sorry, I feel sorry for us all... as "operation chaos" pointed out to ALL of us...it's not nice to have your primaries "fudged" with, we should really start considering as a nation and as both parties, we should only be allowed to vote in the primaries of the party we are registered with. that means there would be no mccain and the bemocrats wouldn't be fractured and burned now, and dont feed me the lie that they are united, u only think they are united if u back obama.
So yes, i feel sorry as heck that our candidates are these weaklings, pathetic nothings. i also remember feeling the same sorrow a while back... when i had the choice Bush or Kerry...is this REALLY the best we can do as a country???? seriously, there are way more talented people in our great land.
