Are Evangelicals More Republican than Ever?

Friday September 5, 2008

Categories: Barack Obama

godrepublican.jpgSpiritual Politics notes that the new CBS News poll shows that McCain's support among white evangelicals has gotten a nice lift from convention week:

66% of white evangelicals are now backing McCain, up from 57% this weekend.

Barack Obama's evangelical support is down at 18-percent. That's a smaller share of evangelical votes than John Kerry got in '04 or Al Gore got in '00.

So much of the news media's coverage of evangelicals these last few years has centered on their broadening agenda and increasing openness to the Democrats. Is the real story that evangelical support for Republicans is more hardened than ever?

Those who pray for the sword are the same as those who live by the sword. Let us beat the swords into plowshares and turn the fallow fields so that we can feed our enemies, not destroy them.

Those evangelicals who follow the path of war, are praying to the god of their hearts and not to the God Of Peace, Jesus.

If you are shockproof, Google "Zombietime" and click on "Up Your Alley Fair" (uncensored version) to find out Gaydom's fast-moving goal: to quietly sneak such depravity on to EVERY Main St. on earth while most folks stay asleep and do nothing! Hugh

"Render unto Ceaser the things that are Ceaser's" Jesus preached the separation of church and state.

America has more active religious participation than any other developed country and has (until recently) maintained the greatest separation between church and state. It was working for us.

Jesus was not a Community organizer. Hitler and Stalin were.
I can easily imagine Hitler and Stalin performing an abortion...for some reason I can't picture Jesus doing that.

This bit about God and the Repuplican Party as inseparable lovers, and if one votes Democrat s/he couldn't possibly be Christian is for the birds! It reeks of egotism, pride, human predjudice, and superiority -- all things we as Evangelicals claim to NOT practice!

The Lord Jesus Christ is not Republican, Democrat, OR any other political persuasion! He's God Almighty.

Yes -- BY ALL MEANS vote your Christian convictions. But I do have to say that I am personally ASHAMED of what many of my supposed Evangelical Brothers and Sisters have said, and how HATEFUL their writing and behaviour has been! I cannot find Jesus Christ in much of their rhetoric.

The United States is mentioned NOWHERE in Scripture. Americans are NOT God's chosen people above all others and He thinks no more highly of us than He does an uneducated slave in an underdeveloped country!
