McCain/Palin to Rally in Colorado Springs

posted by dgilgoff | 10:41am Tuesday September 2, 2008

coloradosprings2.jpgIt now appears that John McCain is zealously courting the Christian Right. The latest sign: he and Sarah Palin have scheduled a rally in Colorado Springs, CO, capital of the evangelical universe, for this Saturday.
and/but: God-o-Meter spoke to a McCain aide a couple weeks ago and learned that the campaign was planning to launch a new web page for evangelicals. That’s still not up yet, even though McCain has pages for groups like “Catholics for McCain,” “American Indians for McCain,” and “Lebanese Americans for McCain.”

On The Religious Left, Great Expectations
The first priorities for Barack Obama's administration will be the economy and a variety of foreign policy issues. But the burgeoning religious left, which worked so hard to get Obama elected, expects some movement on its issues, including a robust White House office of faith-based initiatives, pove

Howard Dean's Vindication
God-o-Meter wrote a piece for today's Roll Call on the vindication of Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean's much-derided 50-State Strategy, which is largely about reaching out to the nation's more religious voters in the red states: Years before Barack Obama showed that a liberal Demo

A Post-Election Chat with Ralph Reed
Amid today's talk that Barack Obama has narrowed the God Gap, God-o-Meter checked in with Ralph Reed, who spearheaded religious outreach for George W. More Innacurate Faith Storylines From the Media
God-o-Meter is struck by the number of faith-based storylines the news media appear to have gotten dead wrong this year. OK, this is the molten core of Abstinence Only sex education programs. Are they trying to put up a smoke screen in order to take the focus off the very real issue of Ms palin’s daughter pregnancy? This is nuttier than even her nomination!

How about “Unwed teenage mothers for McCain”? or “Hicks from Nowhere for McCain”? No forget that last one, Hicksville NY is for Obama.

Palin is a woman who had an amniocentesis during pregnancy, which is an optional procedure that can cause a miscarriage, keeps boasting that she leaves her newborns shortly after birth to return to work, and now her teen daughter is pregnant. I know that people are human and they make mistakes. But is Sarah Palin really who we want as a representative of the Christian faith???? I would rather have Obama. He has flaws too, including poor judgement in associating with his old pastor. But at least the Obamas seem to be living a life consistant with their faith….
