On The Religious Left, Great Expectations
The first priorities for Barack Obama's administration will be the economy and a variety of foreign policy issues. But the burgeoning religious left, which worked so hard to get Obama elected, expects some movement on its issues, including a robust White House office of faith-based initiatives, pove

Howard Dean's Vindication
God-o-Meter wrote a piece for today's Roll Call on the vindication of Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean's much-derided 50-State Strategy, which is largely about reaching out to the nation's more religious voters in the red states:
Years before Barack Obama showed that a liberal Demo

A Post-Election Chat with Ralph Reed
Amid today's talk that Barack Obama has narrowed the God Gap, God-o-Meter checked in with Ralph Reed, who spearheaded religious outreach for George W. Bush's 2000 and 2004 campaigns and who pioneered such outreach for Republicans as executive director of the Christian Coalition.
What surprised you i

More Innacurate Faith Storylines From the Media
God-o-Meter is struck by the number of faith-based storylines the news media appear to have gotten dead wrong this year.
One was the line that Obama was poised to make big gains among white votes, especially evangelicals, who were undergoing a generational shift in their political thinking and reexa

God-O-meter becomes MEANINGLESS at the stage where you do not penalize UN-GODLY, un-Christlike talk.
In Sarah Palin and McCain rallies, people shout “kill him”, “terrorist” to Barack Obama and she and John McCain are fuelling it. No one… I repeat, NO ONE is ready to be President of the United States if they cannot stand up to hate, bigotry, racism or if they let it go as long as it benefits them politically. The world doesn’t want another holocaust or another slavery.
If you didn’t know Sarah Palin, you would NEVER identify her as a “child of God” after listening to all the things she has said lately about Barack Obama.
God-O-meter better penalize UNGODLY talk as well as reward GOD talk

AS Sarah Palin continues to spew her vile upon Obama with her anti-Christ-like Rhetoric, more and more true believers will see that she is fueled by a deep hate and does not have the welfare of the American people in mind.
She should as a Evangelical Christian who comes from a charasmatic background know that those who lie, who spread false rumours and those who use the name of Christ to justify their wrong doing, are sinners.
The American independent voters who are also believers in the second Great Commandment will be the first to move over to the Obama side of the street, for they know that is with Love we will overcome Evil, not with hate.

Oh…so it seems that now that we have OBama in the race, it’s okay to forget about God and country and it’s politically correct to hate people because they do believe in a God this country was founded on? Well, it’s too bad, I’m not going to ever burn my Bible and it is the word of God. Also I am not ashamed of being Caucasion and never will be. I didn’t own any slaves, and I never raised my kids to hate others because of the color of thier skin, the way they looked or even the way the acted mostly. In my eyes it’s the OBama supporters who are the haters here. I can say that because I am a Democrat, always supported the Democratic party until this year. We’ve come too far guys. I won’t support socialism especailly when the likes of Barney Frank et al are at the top of the ladder.

Where is your evidence for it being OK to hate people because they believe in God? Not on this blog, I hope.

I’ll bet GOD would rally for the candidate with a healthy grasp of compassion and the desire to bring people together. The kind of person that seeks to find balance through collaboration and relationship building. Someone who attempts to understand what people need rather than judge them through punitive policies will better serve society. Our world needs those willing to build up, not destroy.
I think if God were President, we would not even have debates filled with judgmental attacks on people’s viewpoints. We would be invited to listen to one another, go beyond our left and right philosophical minds and seek real solutions beyond our imaginations. As the great poet Rumi once said; “Out beyond ideas of rightdoing and wrongdoing, there is a field. I will meet you there.” I think I’ll vote for God.
