Obama Makes Big Gains Among White Catholics

posted by dgilgoff | 5:37pm Tuesday October 21, 2008

religionvotingpatterns.gifThe new Pew poll shows that Obama has made slight inroads among white evangelicals, from 21-percent in September to 24-percent last week. That’s roughly in line with how Democratic presidential candidates have performed, pre John Kerry.

But the bigger news is Obama’s jump among white Catholics, where he’s totally reversed McCain’s lead. Last month, McCain led 48-percent to 41-percent among white Catholics. Now, Obama’s up 49-percent to 41-percent. And here’s a fascinating tidbit: McCain’s 16-point lead among weekly church attending White Catholics from last month has evaporated. The candidates are now dead even among those voters. Obama’s strenuous Catholic outreach is finally starting to pay off.

On The Religious Left, Great Expectations
The first priorities for Barack Obama's administration will be the economy and a variety of foreign policy issues. More Innacurate Faith Storylines From the Media
God-o-Meter is struck by the number of faith-based storylines the news media appear to have gotten dead wrong this year. Knowledge goes with experience. This is how we should vote to put our country’s interest first, not base on the media’s opinion or other people’s comments. Vote with your conscience not for a candidate’s charisma. Being articulate in a debate does not make one to be a good president.
Experience matters, this is a test of wisdom, knowledge and judgment.
There is a saying, “Birds of the same feather flock together”. Look at the people that Obama is associated with; this is very unacceptable, do you think the American people can trust him? He has cronies the people who will do all the dirty work for him. If elected as president, it will be his payback time.
He is someone who depends on other people’s judgment. His association with radicals and extremist will never make him a good president. He debates in a defensive way; he talks as if he is debating to acquit a client who committed a crime.
McCain made it clear he will clean up corruption. McCain is tried and tested. His economic plan can benefit the middle class more than Obama’s. There are other countries willing to put a moratorium of taxes enough to convince investors to pull their investment out of this country. A good stepping-stone for a better economy is to strengthen economic security and gain the investors confidence. Share the wealth to the middle class through job creation not only to “Uncle Sam” where the money goes to only few people, “The Politicians “with their “Earmark”.
If your heart is set for Obama think twice, if he wins, he surely are a dictator and a stubborn president. His words are not reliable. He can say what the people want to hear. A sign of a corrupt leadership. Remember the cronies are around him, holding his torso…and, majority of those in congress are democrats, and this will be his future “yes sir” in short “stamping pad”. He is a lawyer; he could lie and pretend he is on the voter’s side.
Corruption is the reason for a downfall of an economy. How can we not learn from what happened to Wall Street and Main Street? It is clear that even in the campaigns Obama, he is trying to corrupt the mind of our voter through “ACORN” denial is his only defense
“WE ARE THE FUTURE OF THIS NATION, DON’T WASTE IT”
Good luck on your choice. There is a saying “You Reap what you sow “. This is certainly true regarding the lives we live. Concisely, what you expect has a dramatic effect and influence on what you experience.
This is important information for those who are seeking to turn their lives around. I believe there is an effect on how we as humans experience pain. The purpose of this was to show the impact of expectations in relation to experience.
The mindset that Obama has in his life has a dramatic impact on how he feels as he engages himself in any processes, like making decisions. In other words, the emotional intensity of his loss and struggle will create the thoughts he will bring in to his journey. “Ultimately, pain involves in his past, it has a lot to do with what’s going on in his brain.” In addition, his “expectations” and “leadership” will be base on his experience and past. His mentors could certainly have a big influence on his judgment.
Therefore, the lesson to learn is that if your past is filled with agony, bad influence, and torture, your state of mind will most certainly make a difference.
His priorities were not the people’s priorities. It was evident on who he was associated with.
“Politics is a devils Game”, the candidates are the players, and we are the watchers and eventually the victims. When we take sides its either we are the looser or the winner. However, the candidates join the “Devils Game” we cannot allow them to make us the victim.
I am an independent, but I have decided to vote finally for McCain. Sometimes God has to stir up the spirit of the voters to initiate the needed transformation. I will vote only for a man with principle. After looking into how McCain stood up on most of the Democrats and Republicans who made bad legislations, he voted for the best interest of the people.
Proper foundation in leadership is crucial, we have to search and understand the motive behind the action. Hidden agenda is hard to read between the lines. Before we act, we have to ask why? Why are we voting? What do we expect? On the other hand, is the real motive purely financial or service? Or “Control”? Or “Prestige”? Or “Power”?
“LEADERSHIP DOES NOT ONLY GOES WITH JUDGMENT, BUT WITH WISDOM” A LEADER LEAD IN RESPONSE TO A NEED.
“WISDOM IS A GIFT, A KNOWLEDGE GAINED THROUGH EXPERIENCE”

Obama’s transmitted values are in sync with Jesus’ teachings. Catholics who know their faith on a deep level understand this.

Funny americans… Do you know what going on outside you world. The whole world is reading you. Vote for Obama, McCain has a big experience, however this is his weakness as well… he is not flexible, US has loosing it hegemonic position in the world, and this is a good for everyone. Too much pressure from you.. too influential you voice was. I doubt McCain would speak to Ahmadenizhad or Medvedev on equal rights. If you dont learn to speak to Others on equal rights, nobody will after all like you. You should learn not to fight with others, not to demonize them (COMUNISTS, TERRORISTS).. no pluralism, only ideological hegemony.. no one believes in your democracy, you may get clean from the mess only having honestly recognized your mistakes, and not playing dirty.

It is refreshing that most white American Catholics are finally pro Obama. By all Catholic moral and social standards, Obama is more “Catholic” than McCain and Palin: He attended a Catholic elementary school, has been married once, treats his wife with love and respect and did not dump a faithful but diabled spouse for a rich young, and hot chick in order to fund a political career, is anti Iraq war, and embraces the preferential option for the poor. Yes, while he is pro choice, he is indeed the first Democratic candidate to insert the reduction of abortions into the Democratic Platform. Even Bush, who is pro life, has not really reduced abortions during his presidency. So those one issue “pro life” Catholics who have attacked Obama more viciously than any other Presidential candidate in history ought to examine their consciences: Is there a subtle racist tinge to their behavior? Have they been as zealous in fighting against racism and discrimination against Blacks as they have in protecting the child in the tomb? Or is it not hypocritical and illogical to fight for the child in the tomb and inferiorize him as an adult? Moreover, while McCain and Palin talk the talk of faith, Obama walks it: In spite of vicious attacks on his character, he has remained calm, steady and forgiving. Only one with deep spirituality can do that. “By their fruits you shall know them.” Finally, I doubt most Catholics know that Palin was born Catholic but abandoned the faith for the anti-Catholic Pentecostals. If it had been another faith, she would have been treated as a pariah. As a Black Catholic, the surge in support for Obama among White Catholics is welcome and reassuring. It will help to facilitate the removal of the strongly-held image of the Catholic Church as a “White Church” among African-American.
