Saw your post on our religious vote memo. One point of clarification: though we do think the economy is only one piece of the puzzle, we agree that it's a top priority for all voters. We pointed out that "Economic issues topped the list of most important issues among all religious groups" in our Faith and American Politics Survey findings and the memo states on pgs. 3-4, "A broader issue agenda also leads religious voters to view economic issues in moral terms. With the economy as the top issue of concern among all religious groups, organizations like Faith in Public Life, Faithful America, Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good and Sojourners have been emphasizing the moral imperatives inherent in economic policy with online actions and ad campaigns." Also, the general political conversation these days is "it's the economy stupid." From our religion & politics angle, we're looking to contribute a more nuanced story. Of course the economy is effecting all voters, but this memo is about factors that uniquely influence religious voters, particularly evangelicals and Catholics.

Evangelicals should butt out of politics. This is not a theocracy and they shouldn't try to influence public policy based on their limited religious views. Secular society rules.
Although I would have preferred MacCain in office I will still pray that Obamah does a good job. I'm sorry,but Obama quite frankly gives me a bad feeling. You if Oprah had been on the ballet for president I would have voted for her. Oprah has a very good head on her shoulders and she know how to keep her company running like a well oiled machine.
She would have made mega history because she is a strong black woman. I would have preferred her and considering that I respect her more than any woman role model that we have today.I just pray that Obama will be able to do what he said that he would do. I also pray that none of the people that have been plotting to assassinate him; like the ones in Tennessee succeed.That would definitely be a bad thing.
I do not think that our nation should be known as the country that hates other cultures and are afraid of them. That is all that hate is the being afraid of finding out that they are just different.I have worked in restaurants all over and I have gotten to know different races and cultures and they aren't any different from you and I. They want the same things that we want. They want to live free and be able to take care of their families as well.
America was founded on the fact that our ancestors were from different cultures and we still can't seem to get that through our heads.And people Hitler was and is not someone to follow because for your information there is no such thing as pure blood. There really never have been pure blood at any time. At-least not the way that you are thinking any way. Pure blood is the blood of Christ bring all people that believe in Him and follow Him and His word.And that is what I think about every thing. We are a great nation and now is the time to show it. Look,I am a Christian and I believe that we all have a right to speak our minds; but please don't attack people that want our leaders to have a heart when they make laws for our country. Our country was founded on our religious beliefs and we should act like it. Every law that we have was prayed about before they were passed and to not acknowledge that is a slap in the face of our founding fathers.
I don't care how someone else worships but don't tell me that I can't worship God and ask our leaders to pass laws with guidance of more than just thinking about things but by being guided with a conscience. I think that you need to read the Constitution if you don't know what our country is founded on and what the Founding Fathers expected from the leaders of the next generations to come into this world. If this wasn't true they wouldn't still be saying prayer when they open the House Senate floor every day. It is very important to know that there is a greater power in this world and that one day we will all know how great this power is. We don't have limited beliefs,at-least most of us don't.
And if you want to talk about limited beliefs then why don't we talk about small narrow minded people that don't know after seeing the birth of children or the most beautiful sunset on the planet that there isn't a God to create it. Now when you can explain that then you can tell me that I have limited beliefs. Samantha
