Verse of the Day: What We Have
For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has—not according to what one does not have. I do not mean that there should be relief for others and pressure on you, but it is a question of a fair balance between your present abundance and their need, so that their abundance may be for your need, in order that there may be a fair balance. As it is written, "The one who had much did not have too much, and the one who had little did not have too little."

A challenge to each of us to see needs of others and share our abundance - be it money, time, talent, etc. freely and generously. Reflecting the central compact between Lord, Savior and sinner this is about individual choice and giving freely be it money or one's will and heart to Christ. What this verse is not is an instruction to take from one to give to another.

"For if the eagerness is there" Paul is giving a caveat right at the beginning of this verse with this questioning of the heart attitude, "are you eager to give?" If so why would you not want to do so freely especially when it is from your abundance? (I think the word eagerness implies my use of the word, freely.)So Brian I am wondering if you think we are eager or not.
