Jeff Carr: Iraq Veterans Memorial
While we are against the war, we certainly recognize and honor the sacrifice and suffering of so many families who have lost a loved one in this war. I don’t know about you, but sometimes the news coverage and the number of lives lost (more than 3,200 American soldiers, and an estimated 500,000 Iraqi citizens or more) can be a bit mind-numbing. It’s easy to just gloss over those numbers and forget that every one of those lives had a story, a history, something that made them a unique individual created in the image of God. This video is a good reminder of that fact, and I hope will sensitize you, as it did me, to the realities of war. As the Iraq Veterans Memorial site states:

The Iraq Veterans Memorial is an online war memorial that honors the members of the U.S. armed forces who have lost their lives serving in the Iraq War. The memorial is a collection of video memories from family, friends, military colleagues, and co-workers of those that have fallen.
Let us all be mindful of the fact that until this war comes to an end, there will be many more families who will experience the suffering expressed by those profiled on this site. May the Holy Spirit remind us to keep all of these families in our prayers.

"Created," in the image of God at the moment of conception. All DNA for that fact to be so. How many have fallen that were denied a voicw and a life? Millions, upon millions, upon millions. All also "created in the image of God. Just for the scientific record. The people that marched in the "anti" war parties this weekend would spit and physically denigrate any real Iraqi War Memorial if it were not in cyberspace. Why do you think so many gathered on the pro-America side, to counter the insulting Leftist masses gathered to denigrate our country and its soldiers. Why can't Leftists in America be more honest like their hero Hugo Chavez and just declare war on the United States? C'mon, get on with it already. We hear your drum beats loud and clear.

Donny, Not true. You paint all people on the left of the spectrum with the same big, hateful brush. I would never spit on or in any other way despoil any war memorial, or any other kind of memorial for that matter. That would be a little like blaming a victim for being raped, or, I dunno... ...maybe a little like attacking a country that WASN'T responsible for attacking us. And who said Hugo Chavez is our hero? Where on Earth did THAT come from? For the record, my heroes are Jesus, Gandhi and Jeff Beck... Speaking of "being honest".... Do you actually KNOW anybody with left-leaning beliefs...? We are against the war because we love the United States.
How do we love her? We love her the way a reasonable adult loves his/her mother. We are experienced enough to understand she has frailties, and that sometimes she makes mistakes.
Because we love her, we question her actions when she does something that seems cruel, destructive, or (especially) self-destructive. Especially when those actions seem to fly in contradiction to her professed pricipals and beliefs. You, on the other hand, seem to love your country the way a five-year-old loves his Mommy. Mommy is good. Mommy loves us. We love Mommy. Mommy would never do anything bad. Anyone who says anything bad about Mommy is bad... Try loving your country like an open-eyed adult, Donny. And when she does things that go against how she raised you, call her on it. Ask her why. Urge her to stop.
