Video: Pentecost 2007 Justice Revival!

From day one of the Pentecost 2007: Taking the Vision to the Streets conference - Derek Webb, Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, and Jim Wallis call a packed sanctuary at National City Christian Church to take God's concern for the poor seriously and commit to "Vote Out Poverty."

AMEN!

When the voters look at the cost, poverty will be re-elected.

awesome!

I was not impressed by this talk by the candidates. I take notes and I summed it up by "BLAH,BLAH, BLAH" No one has any substance! It is sad!

The significant effort to provide an insightful interview sequence among the candidates for nomination by the Democratric party was helpful. I thought that Richardson, Biden, and Dodd were up to the task, with Paula Zahn challenging their positions on the abortion and gays issues as Roman Catholics. The interviews with Clinton, Obama, and Edwards were also very helpful. Now, may the conservative candidates also provide a similar oppportunity by accepting the invitation to participate in a later interview.

i tuned in too late to see edwards but saw obama & clinton & was blown away, impressed how when left mostly to their own devices & given a little time to flesh things out, they spoke w/ such clarity & conviction & i thought authenticity not seen anywhere today on tv but especially not about religion or politics. not a fan of the stump-speaking hillary, i was very impressed w/ the engaging one i saw tonight, especially on this topic. thanks jim & co for putting this together for such a great viewing experience, look forward to a repub one as well. please post the video of this one somewhere for us to see!

Sorry to see that their were not any footage of the 'packed' church. The war on poverty will be won one person at a time when the church will again mentor people and help them understand that it is the basics that are important. It will not be a gov't program out of DC - that just make more burocrats rich. Have a great day .

Sorry to see that their were not any footage of the 'packed' church. moderatelad | But we didn't miss your dripping sarcasm.

Thank you, SOJO. It is nice to hear your message of hope.

Please - dripping sarcasm? I am not that creative. It is just when the video camera is rolliing and you make a statement like 'packed' - go for the gold, it is your best constant. A picture is worth a thousand words. (TBN does this all the time with small groups in tight formation with close on camera shots to give the feeling of a sold out house.) Wallis is not above fudging the stats. There were an 'overwhelming number of denominations' at his meeting about the enviroment. 88 to be exact when you read the roster and there are well over 7000 registered denominations in the US/Canada alone.
Have a great day .

I am not that creative. Moderatelad I can't argue with that.

it would be nice if you would bring something to the table to talk about - but with your past comments, not expected.

I guess that I would take that comment seriously if it had not come from somebody's whose knee-jerk reaction is to accuse SOJO of being in cahoots with Edwards, Clinton, Kennedy and whoever else you have irrational personal disdain for- Truly clever contributions to the discussion.>

You are the champ of the one liners - not me.

Whatever -

Going off this topic - it is going nowhere - later.
