Verse of the Day: 'For I am not ashamed of the gospel'

For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, "The one who is righteous will live by faith."

- Romans 1:16-17

Here is a typical rewording of what the Bible actually says. It should read, "... the power of God for salvation to anyone who believes..." The idea is that the gospel is only the power of God for salvation for those who believe the message and act upon that belief. As given, the implication is that ambiguous "faith," without specifying a subject or object of faith, is all that God requires. Nothing could be more misleading. Brian
