After Christmas Time- Now I Feel It!

posted by mpratt

Busy days, these have been, and well spent. But, if you, too, live with a chronic illness, you’ll understand:  With the joy and cheer come extra fatigue and pain.

I’m not complaining. Christmas is one of my favorite holy-days (Easter being my  most favorite). But even “good” stress can have a negative effect on many health problems, and the day after a month of seasonal festivities is no exception.

This might be puzzling to people viewing the situation from the outside. After all, wasn’t I smiling, chatting, involved in Mass and meals? Wasn’t there an extra bounce in my step? Well, yes. And all of that extra energy was borrowed from…the days afterward, thus the increased pain and lethargy. It’s not exactly like a letdown. More like a “let lupus.” And it’s something that can’t be pushed through, it just requires rest and time.

So, if today’s post sounds a bit tired, it is because the blogger is having that “after Christmas time, now I feel it” day, thought the spirit and light of the holy time is still alive at heart.

Blessings for the day,

Maureen
