Let There Be Light in Rural Africa: Evans Wadongo, CNN Hero

One of the CNN heroes caught my attention this week.  Evans Wadongo is a young Kenyan who invented a simple solar powered lantern.  In villages without electricity, light is a luxury.   Children study by candlelight or kerosene lantern–if they are lucky enough to have money for fuel.  Otherwise, they may stop studying and drop out of school.    
But Wadongo’s solar powered light not only allows children to study, it also saves families precious dollars to buy food and other necessities.  He builds the lights in his shop and provides them for free to rural communities.  Watch Evans explain how he was inspired to create the lanterns:
