Some time ago, the Opera Company of Philadelphia brought together over 650 singers from community chorales, school choirs, local opera clubs — 28 different organizations — to surprise shoppers at the famed Macy’s in Philadelphia.

They strolled into the store as shoppers, then at noon burst into song, performing the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s “Messiah” to the delight of surprised shoppers.

That’s what’s so special about this video.

Yes, the singing is extraordinary. Sure, the Wanamaker Organ — the world’s largest pipe organ — is incredible.
