This past weekend, Hawk Nelson kicked off their second annual Faith Nights Baseball Tour, where the band will perform before or after a minor league baseball game. Joining the band will be RunKidRun and Audio Adrenaline’s Mark Stuart. Lead vocalist Jason Dunn will throw out the first pitch at the game, RunKidRun will perform during the seventh inning stretch, and Mark Stuart will emcee the event.
What’s that? You’ve never heard of Hawk Nelson?

Here are 10 things you should know about Christian music’s quirkiest punk/pop rock band:
1. Hawk Nelson is not a person. The name came from a video game character.
2. The band originally hails from Ontario, Canada.
3. The band’s 2004 debut, Letters to the President, launched them to the forefront of the Christian music scene.
4. In 2004, the band appeared as The Who on NBC’s “American Dreams,” performing the legendary rock classic, “My Generation.”
5. In 2005, their song, “Bring ‘Em Out” was used in the movie, Yours, Mine and Ours. The band had a cameo in the flick and walked the red carpet for the movie’s premiere.
6. Their music has been featured on the TV shows “Laguna Beach,” “Smallville,” and “Summerland,” as well as in promo spots for the 2004 Olympics, 2006 Stanley Cup playoffs, and NBC 2007 NFL Sunday Night Football.
7. Starting today, their song “Turn It On” will be featured on NBC for Olympic promotions airing during the late night programming of “The Tonight Show,” “Late Night with Conan” and “Last Call with Carson Daly.”
8. Their third album, Hawk Nelson Is My Friend, was released April 1 and debuted at #34 on the Billboard Top 200.
9. You never know what’s going to happen when Hawk Nelson is around. Last year, the band parachuted to their stage at the Spirit West Coast festival.
10. Despite their success, the band has never shied away from their connection to the Christian community, and remains transparent about their faith.
