Hey, aspiring artists and songwriters. The makers of the film, “Henry Poole Is Here” need your music!
Directed by Mark Pellington (U2 3D, Arlington Road), “Henry Poole is Here” opens August 15 and stars Luke Wilson (The Royal Tenenbaums) as a disillusioned man who goes hiding in placid suburbia only to discover he cannot escape the forces of hope.
The winning submission, as judged by MySpace voters, will have their song featured in a music video to be directed by Mark Pellington and underwritten by Overture Films and Lakeshore Records. The winning video will be included on the DVD release of “Henry Poole is Here.”
The song will also be included on the digital release of the soundtrack, with an option for the winners to perform their song at the Hollywood premiere of the film, and an opportunity to meet with record executives from Lakeshore Records.
The contest is sponsored by Overture Films, Lakeshore Records, and MySpace. The competition is open to all qualified MySpace users 18 years and older interested in submitting an original song entitled “Henry Poole is Here,” inspired by the film.
Everything you need to know about the contest, including a movie trailer, a message from the film maker, and entry rules can be found online at www.myspace.com/henrypooleishere. The deadline for submissions is June 20th and the winner will be announced on July 15th.

My band and I would love to enter this contest and are excited at the opportunity. However, how can we be inspired by the film to write a song, when the film is released AFTER the deadline date for the song? Is there any way that you can share a brief synopsis of the film with all of us prospective song writers or even just a brief description or such. It would be ever so helpful and much appreciated.
