If you look at current Christian music pop culture, you might get the idea that all Christian art is about imitating mainstream trends and offering up songs we can sing along to on the radio.

Sure, it has a nice beat, but will it sell in WalMart?

But deeper in the Christian music culture is an underground community of artists - not just people who play music, but poets and painters and musicians who tap into the deeper heart of the artist, where creation and the Creator intersect in a majestic union of pondering thoughts and beautiful music and meaningful lyrics.

Deep stuff, eh?

If the candy-coated, repetitive radio gets a little too much, head on over to The Rabbit Room, a daily blog where artists like Andrew Peterson and Randall Goodgame and Jason Gray - artists whose names may be unfamiliar but whose music you should hear - muse about life and talk about the inspiration behind their songs. This isn't music you're likely to hear on Christian radio, but it will move you and inspire you nonetheless.
