5th annual XFest not your typical Christian music festival

posted by Joanne Brokaw | 8:12am Monday July 28, 2008

XFestlogo.jpgThe great thing about summer is that there are Christian music festivals galore, which bring dozens of great big name bands to fans, all in one place.
The not-so-great thing is that, typically, the festivals don’t book many unknown bands.
Enter the 5th Annual XFest, the Northwest Christian music festival, which takes place in Stevenson, Washington about 45 minutes east of Portland Oregon, over Labor Day weekend, August 29 – August 31, 2008.

The festival website describes the event like this:

“We think this is of God as God has made us to be in community, creative, unique, and plugged in. And since there are outlets at the fair grounds, we thought it a good place to drop some tents, set up some stages, and plug in some amps … Not an event of rock-stars and tall stages, but an event where bands and patrons can camp and enjoy the fairgrounds, the music, and the last few weeks of summer together.”

The event features a skatepark, coffee shop, kids playground, and 3 stages. The line up includes almost all regional bands outside the typical commercial Christian sound; you will find a couple of known bands, like Hyper Static Union and Ruth. But mostly, it’s indie regional acts.
Sounds like a fun, casual time to hang out with friends and enjoy some music.
For a complete line up and details about the event, visit the XFest website.
