This is a great shock to one and all who enjoy listening to the Clouds. He will will be missed but will be remembered for his vocals on many of songs. These people look a song and made it better with their style of music and would keep people humming the tune all day. I am very sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I will put his family in my prayers as should everyone that like to listen to the Clouds. I am sure this was quite a shock to the rest of the group as his family. But when you are with with a group for as long Mike was the group is his extended family. May GOD keep these folks in his hands for ever.

Mike will be greatly missed by those of us who have followed the "CLOUDS" over the years. We extended our deepest sympathy to his family and the "Clouds". Those of us in the Tampa Bay area were looking forward to seeing him on August 03. Mike was a humble and a dedicated person, who never seem to have a personal agenda. Mike's love of people and his love of the gospel separated him from many singers and placed in a category that few singers will ever attained.

My prayers go out to his family and I pray that Mike will rest and peace knowing the Lord the way that he does.I met this man personally when they tour in NJ about 20yrs ago,I was a hotel clerk and checked them in to their rooms @ The Royal Inn Hotel on the next morning I was rude to them about paying their hotel bill and Mike touched my life that day because I wasn't saved at the time and he said to me "do you know that Jesus Loves you" and I looked at him and laughed because at the time I didn't understand, but I have never forgotten that day it is as if it happened yesterday.I'm very saddned by this but I just wanted his friends and family to know that this man touched my life and I know he has touched many others life because he was not afraid or ashamed of talking about the Lord to anybody.

We had the pleasure of enjoying Mike and his daughter sing at the Kunta Kinte Festival last year. They had everyone one their feet and the spirit heavy. Mike put his heart and soul into his love for praising the Lord through music, his love for people, his love for his family and friends and his true love for God. My husband and I will miss him as a friend but there is no doubt that he was a child of God whose love for Him has embraced everyone he ever met. Sleep peacefully until we all meet again.

I had the privelage of knowing Mike for over 20 years, not only as a friend but as a brother. We would always talk on the road and there will never be another brother like him. I remember doing the Mighty Clouds of Joy Anniversery for about 3 years straight and that's when Mike Cook myself and Michael McCowan became very close friends, I am so glad that I have those times to remember Mike by. Playing behing him was a joy, and a annoited time. Last 2 times that I spoke with him, he was speaking of his daughter singing and recording and he seemed so overjoyed I pray that I will have the opportunity to continue to play for the Cook family in the future. I have nothing but wonderful memories of this family God Bless you all, Mike's steps have truley been ORDERED BY THE LORD, AND ONE DAY I PRAY THAT I WILL GET TO SEE HIM WALKING AROUND HEAVEN ALL DAY!

To the family Cook

I just can’t find the words to say how much we are going to miss Michael Cook.
He was one of the greatest tenor singers of our time. I thank the Lord for giving us the opportunity to see and here his voice.
The Lord ordered Michael’s steps and he made that step. Now he is walking around heaven all day.
God Bless the Cook family and The Mighty Clouds of Joy

My sincere sympathy goes out to the Cook Family. Michael can now join the Legends that have gone on before him. What a choir they are going to make in Heaven (directed by the great Dr. Mattie Moss Clark). Here in St. Louis, we recently lost the last of the famous O'Neal twin, Edgar, who went on to join his brother Edward in music. Oh I can hear them now, Michael, Edgar, Eddie, James Cleveland, and a host of other gospel greats making such beautiful music together. Rest in peace my brothers! God Bless.

It was an honor to play keyboards for Michael last May when came to visit the church I was playing for in Roanoke Va. He made a lasting impresssion on me much so that I asked him to take me with him on tour!He looked at me for a moment and said " Well that may be possible when we come back to this area!" I thought that nice of him to say. He will be deeply missed.

Mike loved his family and his singing career. Regardless to what Mike was going through or has gone through, he kept the faith that God was going to work it out for him. My dear friend will be missed greatly and to his family God be with you all...for your lost has been great...Mike is now walking around heaven, for it was God that order his steps....

I was shocked to hear this news tonight at church. Bro. Michael was a wonderful singer and servant of God. I didn't know him that well, but I had the opportunity to meet him at Knoxsberry Farm where The Clouds were singing. I was also there to sing with another younglady on the same stage as the Mighty Clouds of Joy. Eventhough Michael was a part of one of the most famous gospel singing groups, he wasn't afraid to speak to people. He didn't forget that he belonged to God and that God was the one who had given him such a fabulous singing gift to share with the world. He will be greatly missed! My heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to his wife and family.

I WOULD LIKE TO SEND MY DEEPEST SMYPATHY IN THE PASSING OF MICHAEL COOK. MY DAD WAS A GOSPEL PROMOTER IN KINSTON, NC. (SAMUEL SUTTON). I BELIEVE THE WHOLE TOWN WAS EXCITED THAT THE MIGHTY CLOUDS OF JOY WAS COMING TO KINSTON. THERE WAS SO MANY MICHAEL COOK'S WANT BE. TRYING TO HIT THAT HIGH NOTE. THERE IS ONLY ONE MICHAEL COOK IN THIS LIFETIME. HIS VOICE HAD EVERYONE STANDING ON THEIR FEET. HE HAD THAT SPIRITUAL VOICE THAT CAN GOES DEEP IN YOUR HEART. GOD HAD HIM FOR A LENGTH OF TIME, BUT IN THAT TIME PEOPLE WERE SAVED THROUGH HIS SINGING AND SPREADING THE WORD OF GOD. THE LAST TIME I SAW MIKE WAS IN CHARLOTTE, NC 2008, HE WAS ABOUT READY TO GO ON STAGE. I SPOKE TO HIM, ASK HIM HOW HE WAS DOING. HE STATED HE HAD A TERRIBLE HEADACHE AND THAT HIS "HEAD WAS KILLING HIM". WHILE HE WAS SINGING LIKE HE WAS ON CLOUD 9. HE WAS SINGING FOR THE LORD. MY PRAYERS AND BLESSINGS ARE WITH ALL. RICHARD WALLACE, JOE AND THE MIGHTY CLOUDS OF JOY AND MICHAEL'S FAMILY.

I loved Mike and I was utterly shocked when I watched Bobby Jones this morning and they were making a tribute to Mike Cook.

The guy was a fantastic singer and I just loved him singing with the Clouds. He has taken a journey that we all must take. My sincerest sympathy goes to his family. I cannot imagine the hurt they must feel.

I have several videos of the Clouds and when I look at them again, I will be reminded of how wonderful a singer Mike was and how he seemed to add so much to the group. I am sure that Joe and the guys will long remember and miss him.

Both Mike's Family and the Clouds will be in my prayers. Make God be with you in this hour of bereavement.

Sincerely,
Joyce Fisher

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Cook just recently in Birmingham AL on May 2, 2008. The Mighty Clouds of Joy did a three day tour in Alabama, in Birmingham, Montgomery, and Mobile and our group the Anointed Angels opened nightly. He was one of the most down to earth gospel artist that I have ever met. He gave good advice and constructive criticism and mostly he encouraged us to keep singing praises to the Lord. He will always be remembered in our hearts and the family will be in our prayers. God bless you all!!!

To the Cook Family my prayers go out to your family. I was a classmate of Michael's, and I was completely shocked to hear about his passing. We went to school together in South Boston, VA, and I remembered him singing in every talent show, he was good then, and when I heard him with the Mighty Clouds of Joy the Lord had really elevated him. We would always have great laughs in school. I know then he enjoyed life, and I don't see him changing as he was older. We always knew the different ones that were in the group, and he was truly different. God had his hand on him even then. This is really a hard pill to swallow, but we all know that God makes no mistakes. To see him on TV, I could see the Lord had truly been good to him. Please continue looking up to God and he will direct you path. My prayers will always be with you and your family.
