Early Thursday morning, the guys in the band Rush of Fools lost everything they own when someone stole their band trailer from their driveway in Alabama.
The guys had recently purchased some new gear, and the loss is estimated at more than $60,000. They lost everything, including all their merchandise, guitars, cases, amps and anything they’d need to play a show. Insurance is expected to cover some, but not all, of the costs.
The band was nominated for multiple Dove Awards and was awarded the ASCAP Song of the Year for “Undo,” from their self-titled debut album. Contrary to popular belief, though, the vast majority of music artists aren’t rolling in cash, and that includes award winning artists like Rush of Fools. A loss like that can put a band out of business.
The guys are keeping a positive attitude in the midst of the stress. In a letter to the media, the band cites Romans 8:28, and says, “It’s our prayer that whoever took the gear and trailer would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through our stuff. Yes, literally, our ‘stuff’ would be the catalyst to their introduction to Christ.”
The band is asking for prayer that the equipment is returned unharmed, and that in the meantime their managment company is able to secure temporary replacements so the band can get back on the road for a July 14th show.
