Update on Destination 7 drummer Jeremy Devore

posted by Joanne Brokaw | 8:17pm Friday July 18, 2008

Destination7coverart.jpgI just heard from Natasha, lead vocalist for Destination 7, with an update on drummer Jeremy Devore. He has been diagnosed with viral meningitis. The good news, if there is some, is that the rest of the band doesn’t have to be quarantined. I don’t know how long he’ll be being treated but anything involving meningitis sounds scary.
It’s been an interesting summer for Destination 7. The band has a very strong presence in the Los Angeles mainstream music scene; they play the Whisky A GoGo often and just helped coordinate an entire night of Christian music there. They feel a strong leading to be witnesses in the mainstream music world.
But with that comes spiritual opposition. Natasha writes:

“I hate to say it, but I’m just not surprised anymore. It seems like where ever we go, and whatever we do, disaster strikes. Meningitis, lightning storms, locust storms, blackouts, fires, mosquito attacks, flash floods, ALL in one glorious summer. Welcome to ministry:) hahaha Phil 3:13-14 has never felt so completely REAL. With all that said, thank you so much for your prayers, and please continue to pray for us as we press on.”

I’d echo her requests for prayer. If you read guest blogger Dave Weiss’s post today, he made some great points about musicians who use their art as ministry, and that’s something Destination 7 does.
