To Write Love On Her Arms tour kicks off East Coast leg

posted by Joanne Brokaw | 9:18am Monday November 10, 2008

This past weekend, the East Coast leg of the “To Write Love On Her Arms” tour kicked off in Georgia. The tour is an extension of To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA), a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. Appearing on the tour are Renee Yohe, Nevertheless, Between the Trees, and “The Biggest Loser” contestant Dan EvansThe seeds of the group were sown by a story written by Jamie Tworkowsk in February 2006 about a girl he met named Renee Yohe who was struggling with depression, addiction, and suicide. Unable to get her checked into a treatment center, he and friends took care of her through love and prayer for five days, until she could be admitted for rehab. The friends made and sold t-shirts to pay for her treatement, and a movement was born.TWLOHA began operating as a non-profit organization in October 2006 under the umbrella of Fireproof Ministries and on September 1, 2007 was established in Florida as its own 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.Renee has finished treatment, is in school, and while she battles addiction every day is doing well. She’s written a book about her experience, Purpose for Pain, a collection of her journals. Yohe is currently touring with TWLOHA, sharing her story with audiences across the country. The “To Write Love On Her Arms” tour runs through November. In addition, TWLOHA founder Jamie Tworkowski is doing “An Evening with To Write Love on Her Arms” with conversation about pain, hope, questions and community, with music by Josh Moore. For complete dates, visit the TWLOHA website.
