Using your artistic gifts for God

Thursday December 4, 2008

As regular readers of this blog know, I often feature videos from my friend Pastor Dave Weiss. He's an incredible artist and a bivocational pastor - which means he has a full time job, plus he pastors a small church in Reading, PA.

Dave and I have talked often about how to use our gifts (assuming that I can figure out what my gifts are) to glorify God without getting burned out or veering off onto our own paths. Dave recently went through a fast from art, which I know was a struggle for him, so I was excited to see the project that he just finished now that the fast is over.

The message he shares in this video is something I think every artist needs to see, because we all struggle with the "what am I supposed to do next" question.

Dave's desire is to really serve his fellow artists - visual artists, musicians, etc. - and to encourage and inspire them. If you're a musician looking for a pastor, or if you're an artist looking for inspiration, I really encourage you to connect with Dave. He has a servant's heart and real calling to minister to artists.

You can visit him online at his AMOKarts.com website (AMOK= Arts Ministry Outreach for the Kingdom) or check out his ministry podcast.
