I've written about how Christian music has become this huge parallel universe, but more and more the subculture is coming into the mainstream as the rest of America sees there dollars to be made from the Christian community.
The Orlando Sentinal reports that Tampa's Busch Gardens has announced that they will host a Christian music series, kicking off May 9. The paper reports that artists like Steven Curtis Chapman, Relient K, Sara Groves and Sanctus Real are scheduled to appear. Disney World and Universal Orlando already host competing events in September, and Busch Gardens decided to tap into the market with a summer event.

I think you will discover that the Disney & Universal events do not som much compete as complement each other. The tenor and style of music at the different parks reflects the tenor and styles of the parks themselves. That Busch Garden is getting into the act - after several years of the other parks events - is no surprise. Theme parks often have themed weekends, including targeted demographic weekends, as in focusing on military families, gay people, gardeners, foodies, or others.
I think what they mean by competing is that they both happen at around the same time, like many Christian festivals.
You can be sure that they're getting into the act because there's money in it. Not knocking the park - they're in business to make money. But more and more mainstream industries are seeing the dollar signs in the Christian marketplace. There's a reason Walmart and Target now have music sections dedicated to Christian music, and why small indie Christian bookstores are struggling, now that the chain stores are carrying more Christian titles.
