A press release this morning announced that "1in3Trinity, a Faith-inspired company of lifestyle products, is proud to announce that it has signed worship band SONICFLOOd to endorse their newly released faith-inspired energy drink, 1in3Trinity Energy Drink."
Yes, you read it right. A "faith-inspired energy drink." People, I don't make this stuff up.
The press release says:
"The premier 1in3Trinity Energy Drink is a perfect companion for today's active Christian lifestyle, providing benefits not only for the consumer, but for spectators as well. In an eye-catching aluminum can, the company has an opportunity to convey a positive and unique message in an innovative and distinctive way to not only the drinker, but also to those in which they come in contact."
Great! So now I can wear my Scripture sneakers and my Jesus Is My Homeboy t-shirt and parade around town drinking a 1in3Trinity Energy Drink and everyone will know that I'm a Christian! Wow, I had no idea how to really finish off that Bible-based fashion ensemble so that I could really share my faith. Maybe that homeless guy on the street will see my super spiritual energy drink can and become a Christian.
Barf.
What does that say about the worship band? That they buy into this Christian commercial crap?
The press release also says, "1in3Trinity has a strong vision and is committed to contributing a percentage of our profits to youth ministries around the world." That's nice, but you know what I suggest? Take the money you might have spent on this "spiritual" energy drink and send it directly your favorite youth charity.

Steven, I was telling a non-Christian friend about Testamints and he was dumbfounded. Said if he could figure out the next tacky Christian product he'd make a million. Sigh.

guys,
don't be so hard on them. they're probably doing it with good intentions. what are we doing as Christians by mocking them and scoffing at them? certainly not acting as Jesus would...
besides, as Christians, we are called to engage in culture to a certain degree... why shouldn't we have our own products? seeing a drink like that could be an icebreaker for someone to witness, you never know. we can't just sit back and let non-believers take over the world with all their products and advertising.. it's fair enough for SonicFlood to want to be a part of that, just like Christians bands become part of the media and fight for attention because want to show people what we've got. i don't see anything wrong with this.
This is a cool drink
Christian energy drinks. Hhmmm, why do Christians buy into this stuff? Sounds like a ca$h grab to me. Christians will buy anything if you tell them it is “Christian.” The next time you swallow you “Christian” energy drink, know you have swallowed the companies line and your money will line their pockets with the most gullible people in the world. What percentage is going to the poor. If you want to help the disadvantaged just write them a check.
How do you take the Lord’s name in vain? This is so subtle. You may think I’m off the deep end here, but, we have to show reverence for his name. If you really think someone is going to give their life over to Him because they drank an energy you have consumed too many of them. This is why people think Christians are so flakey.
