Grammy-nominated Sarah Kelly knows a thing or two about being on the road. With the success of her albums Take Me Away and Where The Past Meets Today, she’s on the road a lot, averaging 150-200 tour dates a year.
Sarah says, “The best part about leaving home is coming home…and while I love my adventures on the road, I love coming home to my husband and dogs even more! Every time I get home my hubby gets excited because he knows what Monday is….Sarah coming home stir fry day! It’s not sooooo bad for you…but not like a smoothie either. In my house my husband is like a very skinny eating machine and I have to give him calories, even though that means I must control my portions with much scrutiny!”
Here is Sarah’s favorite stir fry recipe:
I Just Got Home From The Road Stirfry

First I put a tablespoon or so of olive oil in the pan and then add an egg or 2…
Then I add fresh mushrooms and broccoli (add whatever you like…) and cook for 2 or 3 min on high…
add a little more oil….then add peeled and deveined shrimp…
Let this cook for about 6 min or so on high…stirring every minute…flipping the shrimp
Add about 2 cups of fully cooked white rice to the mixture
then pour 1/8 cup of soy sauce and a 1/8 cup of teriyaki sauce to the mixture and stir throughly..
fry for about 5 more min…
Yum!! Best part is that it only takes about a half hour total prep/cook time!
Take Me Away, Sarah Kelly’s 2004 Gotee Records’ debut, merited the singer-songwriter a bevy of attention from fans as well as industry, who gave her a GRAMMY nod in the “Best Rock Gospel Album” category. The album nabbed the #12 spot on the “Top Christian Albums” Soundscan chart first week out by selling more than 4,100 units, securing her as the highest new artist debut in the 10-year history of the Gotee label. The single “Take Me Way” also landed a No. 6 spot on the CHR radio charts. In 2005, the national retail store Guitar Center added Kelly’s image to the “World’s Largest Outdoor Photo Exhibit,” a gallery found on the outside of 140 Guitar Center stores all around the country. Kelly’s last album, Where The Past Meets Today, sold nearly 5,000 albums first week out, landing at #2 on Sound Scan’s Christian album chart, and merited yet another GRAMMY nomination. She also made a guest appearance on Rick Dee’s Top 40 Countdown syndicated radio show. Averaging 150-200 tour dates a year, Kelly has shared the stage with acts including Jars of Clay, Everyday Sunday, and Paul Wright.
