The Associated Press reports that entertainer Fred Travalena died yesterday in Los Angeles. He was 66. Travalena suffered from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma that first surfaced in 2002. The cancer resurfaced in 2008. Travalena is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lois; sons Fred IV and Cory; daughter-in-law, Kelly; and a granddaughter.
Travalena was best known for his celebrity impressions, which earned him the nicknames "Mr. Everybody" and "The Man of a Thousand Faces." His extensive resume included television shows and headlining shows in Las Vegas, Reno and Atlantic City; he was a regular on the late night talk show circuit. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005.
Travalena was also a devout Christian who was dedicated to pro-life causes. According to Associated Content, he sponsored the website BabiesAreImportant.com, designed to "to help give a voice to the unborn and to help you contact the Supreme Court and ask them to re-examine the Roe v. Wade decision." He also penned the song "One Little Hand" (you can hear the song on the BabiesAreImportant website):
One Little Hand
by Fred Travalena
One Little Hand
Reaching out for life
Somewhere between God's safety
And the strife
One tiny little child
Struggling to be free
Wondering what God's plan
For this child's life will be
Each little life
A gift from God on high
Please hear their silent cry
Someone
All through the ages
God sends the child
On that first Christmas morn
God's blessed son was born
In Bethlehem
One Little Hand
Leads us to
The Promised Land
Salvation of the world began
With One Little Hand
