I know many of you are waiting patiently to hear about my interview with Derek Webb. We had a lovely, long chat and rather than keep you waiting any longer, I thought I'd share the first part of the interview. You can click the file at the end of this post to hear audio excerpts of this portion of the interview, but for those of you who'd rather read, here are some highlights from our discussion:
MIKESCHAIR recently released their self-titled debut CD, a unique pop sound mixed with rock guitars, electronic textures, and bass grooves blended with catchy, anthemic, sing-along choruses. It's music that inspires action to change the world through love. The debut single, "Can't Take Away" was immediately a top 5 hit.
In this week's Cooking With Christian Music feature, Mike Grayson, lead vocalist for Curb Recording artist MIKESCHAIR, shares a recipe for lasgana. He said, it's "[O]ne of my favorite things my mom cooks!!!"
The idea of sharing food and music is at the heart of MIKESCHAIR. The band has created an outreach they call Mike's Table, where they ask their fans to get actively involved in being the hands and feet of Jesus to feed the hungry. The band supports ministrlies like Love146, Food for the Hungry, and International Justice Mission. But you can hear them talk more about it in the video above. Right now, here's Mike's mom's recipe for lasagna:
For the past couple of months, every Friday I've been sharing recipes from your favorite Christian music artists. Well, this week, the recipe well has run dry, so to speak. While I wait for more recipes to share, I thought I'd let Christian music fans share some of theirs!
If you have a recipe that somehow ties in to Christian music - maybe it's a dish you make when your church hosts an artist, maybe you're an indie band with a great snack for the road, maybe you're a local concert promoter with a recipe for your favorite dish, maybe a certain worship song reminds you about a mission trip you went on and you have a recipe for that country or culture - send them to me. I'll take recipes from artists, industry professionals, band moms and music fans. Just make sure you share a little story about the dish to gives readers a chance to get to know you.
