Capital Lights' new video on Purevolume.com

CapitalLights.jpgCapital Lights debuts a new video today on the homepage at Purevolume.com.

The song is "Outrage," from the band's debut album, This Is An Outrage. When the album released in July, it went right to the iTunes Top 40 Rock Albums Chart.

Purevolume is a really great site for promoting and checking out new music, and often gets overlooked with MySpace so hot. So head over to Purevolume.com and check out the new video from Captial Lights! While you're there, check out the other Christian artists. (You need to click "Browse" and then select "Christian" to filter by genre.)

For more about Capital Lights, visit their MySpace page.

It's Halloween, so it must be time for Christmas music!

SaraGrovesOHolyNight.jpgIt's Halloween, and what could be scary than dozens of Christmas albums hawked by your favorite Christian music artists!

Seriously, I've been getting press releases about Christmas albums since July. I think the fact that we're selling Christmas so early has helped to remove the sacredness and excitement of the holiday that I remember as a kid. I understand the flow of seasonal merchandise, and the fact that in order for products to be highlighted in holiday issues of publications review copies need to go out by early fall.

But it's not even November, and if I see another CD with a quaint snowy scene on the cover, I'm going to hide under the blankets until spring.

But if you don't have enough Christmas music, here's a list of the artists with albums out for the holidays; many of these artists are also on the road for Christmas tours. And sure, you can buy most of the albums now.

Does Christian rock really change anything?

crowdfestivalsmall.jpgDoing a little surfing around the internet, I came across this blog post about a call for repentence. The blog appears to be part of a ministry of Grace Bible Church and is a preview of a message for Grace Academy High School Chapel.

But it was definitely thought provoking, and I have to say I've often pondered the point brought up in this paragraph:

Michael W. Smith urges next president to continue to provide aid to Africa

MichaelWSmith.jpgCCM icon Michael W. Smith told the Associated Press that he's met with Sen. John McCain, and tried without success to meet with Sen. Barak Obama, to urge both presidential candidates that if they win, to continue President Bush's emergency plan to fight AIDS in Africa.

The AP story reports that Smith says he will continue to thank God for His blessings, regardless of who wins the election, adding, "My security's not in the political system. My security rests in something much greater than that."

Michael W. Smith is currently on tour with fellow music legend Steven Curtis Chapman on the United Tour. The tour kicked off October 9 in Columbus, Ohio and concludes in St. Augustine, Florida on November 8 and benefits Compassion International and Chapman's adoption ministry Shaohannah's Hope.

Mary Mary tops Billboard charts

MaryMarycoverTheSound.jpgGospel artist Mary Mary's latest project, The Sound, released last week and immediately jumped to the top spot on Billboard's Top Christian & Gospel charts. The album claimed the #7 spot on the Billboard Top 200, the week's third highest debut, behind AC/DC and the High School Musical 3 soundtrack.

With The Sound, Erica Campbell and Tina Campbell, the real life sisters better known as Mary Mary, weave their love of truth-grounded Gospel music into a tuneful blend of R&B, pop, soul, jazz, electronic music and more. The album's first single, "Get Up," a pop-infused anthem of praise and empowerment, is getting strong airplay at CHR radio.

For more about Mary Mary, visit the Mary Mary website.
