Switchfoot releases new CD, new tour, and myriad media appearances

Switchfoot.jpgIt's a busy, busy month for rockers Switchfoot.

This week, the band will take the stage for Yahoo! Music's new live concert program, "Maximum Performance Guitar Hero 5." Lead vocalist Jon Foreman and drummer Chad Butler will also be featured in an upcoming episode of "Road Trip Nation" airing on PBS stations in November. (You can watch the episode at the Road Trip Nation website.)

The band kicks off their headlining tour November 8 in their hometown of San Diego and will appear on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," performing on the outside stage, on November 12th. The band's seventh full length album, Hello Hurricane, releases November 10.

The tour will feature Switchfoot playing Hello Hurricane in its entirety, followed by fan favorites from its previous records. The band will be collecting donations for local food banks along the tour route, so fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable items to the shows.

Switchfoot is also launching a new website, TheWorldYouWant.com, which will spotlight goodness, beauty, and truth in everyday life. Fans are invited to contribute stories about people they know who are making this world a better place, and the band will read some of these contributions from stage during the tour.

Wait, that's not all.

Switchfoot is the subject of an upcoming Rolling Stone "In the Studio" feature and will be on the cover of Relevant Magazine's November/ December issue. Jon Foreman has also penned two articles recently: his piece on charity in your own backyard will be in the November issue of Alternative Press and he's written on the nature of heroism for The Huffington Post. He also recently participated in filming an innovative online game called "The Climate Challenge," for Oxfam.

Phew.

For more about Switchfoot, including the trailer, "The Making of Hello Hurricane," visit Switchfoot's website.

A special message from cancer survivor and Christian music artist, Paige Armstrong

Nineteen-year-old Paige Armstrong's debut CD Wake Up hit stores this month, but her journey to the music industry has had more twists and turns than most artists.

At age 11, she was diagnosed with cancer, and it was an opportunity from the Make-A-Wish foundation that allowed her to travel to Nashville to fulfill her dream: to record a professional CD.

Her early music also found its way onto the Bath & Body Works 2005 Holiday album, alongside such notables as Martina McBride. Armstrong appeared on "Today" and "Extra," sharing her story and the new Christmas music.

Now cancer free, Armstrong has a new album and a message about her dedication to reaching teens and young adults to find their own story and not waste their life.

Here is a special message from Paige about her own journey with cancer, and a challenge to you: how will you spend your life?

And a little family crisis.

The very next day, Chynna Phillips' half sister Mackenzie Phillps released her memoir, High On Arrival, in which she revealed that she'd had an on-again-off-again consensual sexual relationship with her father John Phillips, of the 60s folk group The Mama and the Papas.
