Newboys kick off full length tour with new vocalist Michael Tait

OK, Newsboys fans, it's time to find out how you really feel about Michael Tait at the helm:

Newsboys will kick off their fall "The Way We Roll" tour October 1, with special guests Seventh Day Slumber, Bread of Stone, and Me In Motion.

This is the Newsboy's first first full-length tour featuring new front man Michael Tait, who stepped into the role mid-tour earlier this year after longtime leader Peter Furler decided to take a more behind-the-scenes role.

The change took many Newsboys' fans by surprise and was met with a mixed emotions, especially from fans that had purchased concert tickets expecting Furler and got Tait instead. Some fans thought the change was good; some thought it was too much dcTalk mixed with Newsboys. But most were disappointed they didn't know ahead of time that Tait had taken over the lead spot and weren't offered the opportunity for a refund.

This time, there will be no confusion about who'll be at the mic. So are you going to check out this tour? It kicks off October 1 in Greensboro, NC and ends November 15 in Wilmington, OH.

Christian Music Poll: Who Do You Think Is Over rated, Under rated?

Today, since I'm having a summer "I don't feel like working" day - one of several this week - I thought I'd let you all have your say in a little poll. Share your thoughts with me on these questions:

1) Who do you think is the most underrated Christian music artist, any genre?

2) Who do you think is the most overrated Christian music artist, any genre?

3) What Christian music artist, any genre, do you think deserves to be on the cover of Rolling Stone - or any other national mainstream magazine, music or non music?

Leave your comments in ... well, the comment section!

Christian Music Poll: American Idol & Faith

Hey, all, I wonder if you'd mind helping me out with an article I'm doing for a major mainstream website? I just need to include a couple of viewer comments about the show and faith, and you all have so much insight about the show every week. You can leave your comments here. Just a note - I will need to use your name so if you'd rather email me your responses, you can do so at joanne AT joannebrokaw, w/o the spaces and w/the @ sign. :) I need your responses by Sunday, May 10:

1) If you're a Christian and voting for a contestant, or have been voting and your favorite has been eliminated, how much does/did your faith play into your decision about who to support or not support?

2) If you're not a Christian, does the discussion about faith influence your voting at all?

3) If you're not a Christian or have never listened to Christian music, has listening to the Christian contestants on this season's show made you more or less likely to give Christian music a listen? Why or why not?

4) If you're not a Christian or do not attend church, has the portrayal of the Christian contestants on Idol made you likely to attend church? Listen to a Christian who wants to talk about their faith? Turned you off even more to Christianity? If the Idol you support happens to be a Christian and went on to release a CD in the Christian market, would you buy it?

5) If you're a Christian or church/ministry, have you used American Idol for outreach to your community? Have you held "Idol nights" where everyone gets together to watch? Talked about being a Christian in the mainstream or sharing your faith?

6) Anything else you want to share?

Thanks!!!

American Idol Poll: Who Would You Vote For If The Finale Was Today?

MattGiraudRatPack.jpgThis week, bluesy pianist Matt Giraud was sent home in what might have been the best show in a very long time on American Idol. In fact, I've venture to say this was the most talented top 5 we've seen in many, many seasons.

I had a few hunches about who I think will end up in the top 3, and then who might take home the title (I even predicted Kris Allen), but after this week's Rat Pack performances, I'm left scratching my head. I'm pretty certain that viewers voting for Adam won't vote for Danny, and Danny's fans won't switch their votes to Adam, but what happens with people who've been voting for Kris, Matt and Allison if they go home? I have no clue.

So I thought I'd take a little poll:
