Thanksgiving is the wonderful holiday that not only leads into the season celebrating the birth of Christ but gives us an entire day to give thanks. And eat. A lot.
I asked some of your favorite and up-and-coming Christian music artists what they'll be giving thanks for this year. From families to salvation to traveling mercies, Christian music artists have a lot to be thankful for:
The nomination is an annual recognition by Beliefnet readers and editors of noteworthy humanitarian actions that inspire and encourage us all to live better lives. The Most Inspiring Person of the Year Award is bestowed upon someone who has risen above expectations. He or she may have countered stereotypes and demonstrated courage, forgiveness, self-sacrifice or love under difficult and challenging circumstances.
Chapman and his family suffered a tragic loss this past May when their youngest adopted daughter, Maria, was accidentally run over in the family's driveway by their oldest son, Will.
The crossover hit "Let Your Love Flow" put country music duo Bellamy Brothers on the charts back in 1976, and helped launch a career that's spanned more than three decades. And the song is heating up the charts again after being used by England's Barclay Bank for a credit card advertisement. The song is currently #25 on the official UK Singles chart, Music Week, as of November 15th.
They make girls swoon and audiences rock, and now the guys in Hawk Nelson want to encourage their fans to step out of their comfort zones to be the one little miracle that can change the world.
The moniker for the newly launched program is based of the band's newest single "One Little Miracle," which is currently charting at No. 6 on CHR formats. As the song states:
One little revolution could turn it all around.
Back to the Kingdom we once knew
Just a little bit of me, just a little bit of you
One little miracle to get us through
Rather than focusing on one area of need, Hawk Nelson has chosen three avenues to be the "one little miracle" across the nation.
High school sophomore Robert Pierre's (coincidentally) sophomore album Identity doesn't come out until February, but through a partnership with Family Christian Stores more than 30,000 music fans have gotten an advance copy by making a $10 donation to The James Fund, an organization whose mission is to help widows and orphans both locally and worldwide.
With the donation, shoppers receive 10 songs from Identity, and a plush stuffed Barnabus bear is given to an orphan in the consumer's community or in a developing country.
Robert Pierre released his debut album Inside Out when he was just an eighth grader. Most kids who get involved in the entertainment industry have stars in their eyes. But this kid had a definite mission in mind - to help kids discover that through Christ, they have value to God.
