Focus on the Family announced last week that Dr. James Dobson is leaving the radio show as its primary host as well the ministry he founded in 1977.
In a press release, Jim Daly, the ministry's president and CEO, explains that "Dr. Dobson's departure from the radio program and from official affiliation with the organization he founded in 1977 is just the 'third chapter in a transition that began in 2003,' when Dr. Dobson stepped down as Focus president."
While Dr. Dobson didn't release an official statement, FOF spokesman Gary Schneeberger has said that Dr. Dobson's Dobson's "health and attitude are great;" Dobson suffered a minor heart attack in 1990 and a mild stroke in 1998.
Dr. Dobson will continue to record new radio broadcasts between now and the end of February.
UPDATE November 4: I took some time today to listen to the message that Dr. Dobson recorded addressing his resignation. He explains that, indeed, the board did ask for his resignation at a meeting last week, but was emphatic on several points.
You all know how much I love The Wrecking, so I wanted to share a little tidbit of news with you: The band's single, "You Remain", from their debut album, A New Abolition, has hit #5 on AIR 1 Radio this week. They're among artists like Skillet, FM Static, Red, and Tenth Avenue North.
The band has also almost hit the 10,000 vote mark needed to get their song "Our Feet Don't Touch The Ground" incuded in the next Twiight movie, "New Moon."
The song "You Remain" has also been included in iTunes Essential Rising Stars Christian ... Compilation? List? Promotion? I'm not an iTunes user so I don't know the right word. But the song is available along with artists like Mandisa, Brandon Heath, DecembeRadio, and FM Static.

"Don Moen & Friends", the new syndicated three hour Sunday morning drive time radio show hosted by Platinum-selling recording artist, songwriter and worship leader Don Moen, launched recently in over 150 USA markets and internationally in over 20 nations.
According to a press release, the program features "new and classic worship music, interviews with leading musical artists, pastors and Christian leaders, and noted personalities, as well as testimonies of how God is working around the globe. This program's core themes are hope, comfort and encouragement--themes which embody what Don Moen is all about in his ministry, whether on stage or off."
The first show featured encouraging stories of faith by people such as Bart Millard of MercyMe who talked about his relationship with his father, and "The Today Show" hostess Kathie Lee Gifford who shared the story of finding a Bible verse on her son's Facebook page. In the featured segment "God Will Make a Way," Moen told of his personal challenges in finding words to comfort a family member in a time of tragedy.
The press release lists other "Moen entities" including "MediaShout, the leading multimedia presentation software program, www.worshipmusic.com, a leading retailer of worship resources and www.worshipteam.com, a cutting edge web application designed to schedule worship teams and legally distribute digital content to team members."

For the past week, Adam Lambert fans have been, if I can be honest, acting like very sore losers over last week's win by Kris Allen on season of American Idol. They've been complaining that viewers who cast votes for Kris Allen did so because they're homophobic, tone deaf, stupid, and possibly cheaters.
As far as the first three go, my response is: get over it. I'm sick and tired of the mentality that is rampant in American that uses any excuse, including a television show, to fuel a gay/Christian debate. It's asinine. Get over it.
As for cheating? Well, there might be something to that the charges of voting irregularity. Maybe. A BIG maybe.
Catch me tomorrow morning at 8:30 am eastern on WETN 88 radio's Joy In The Morning, broadcasting from Wheaton College. We'll be talking American Idol and Christianity. I think you can listen online at the WETN website.
