Fireflight invites fans to join a live webcast on Friday, November 20

Fireflight.JPGMark your calendar for Friday, November 20, when rockers Fireflight will host a live webcast to share music from their upcoming February 2010 release, For Those Who Wait.

The webcast kicks off at 5 PM eastern / 4 PM Central / 2 PM Pacific. All you have to do is head over to the Fireflight live webcast site at the right time. To post a question, just type in your name and question in the chat box.

Don't you love it when artists give fans a chance to interact personally? That's not always possible at shows, although many Christian artists do the best they can to see and talk to everyone who wants to chat, and Fireflight is one of them.

This is probably a good time to clear the air on something, too. Well, long past time actually.

Rocker's Mae trailer, equipment and personal belongings stolen

Maenew.jpgThis just in: rock band Mae woke yesterday morning in Philadephia to find that their trailer was stolen from the parking lot of the hotel where they'd been staying.

They lost all of their equipment, instruments and some personal belongings. The band will finish the last few dates on their tour with help from friends in Deas Vail and Jenny Owen Youngs.

Mae isn't the first band to have a trailer stolen, and they won't be the last. It's one of the hazards of the business. Most bands either don't have insurance or don't have enough insurance to cover everything (I don't know Mae's situation) but the band is open to donations to help them replace what they can.

I'm happy recommending that you help if you can. This is a band who has dedicated every day to helping others. In fact, to day they've raised almost $59,000 since January for charities like Habitat for Humanit as well as supplying educational resources for classrooms with their 12 months, 12 songs, 1 goal project. The band offers a new song and all donations to download the song go that specific charity until the band has met their goal.

You can learn more and make a donation on Mae's website, WhatIsMae.com.

Christian band Revive makes Billboard's list of bands to watch in 2009; get a free song download

BillboardRevive2009.jpgThis week, Billboard magazine named Revive one of 15 new "Faces To Watch" in 2009.

The high-energy, pop/rock band is the only Christian music artist selected for the story, which highlights emerging talent in various genres of music. The article says: "Revive looks to be the next Aussie export to make its mark in the Christian music arena."

Revive's debut album, Chorus of the Saints, releases March 10, just in time for a national tour with Third Day and Brandon Heath on the Revelation Tour.

But you don't have to wait until the album comes out to check out the band. Head over to their website and you can get a free song download. (Well, I say "free" but you have to sign up for the mailing list and refer friends first. So it's not technically really "free" ... it just doesn't cost money ...)

For tour dates, and more on Revive, the band's website.

Rockers Mae are embarking on a year of charity, and you can help

Maecharity.jpgWith the help of the band's international community, rockers Mae have embarked on a year-long journey to help those less fortunate and also raise awareness about important humanitarian issues.

Every month in 2009, the band will release a new song exclusively on their website. Fans can download the song for a minimum donation of $1, and the profits from the digital downloads will fund humanitarian projects that the band and their fans will be a part of all year long.

The current song is "The House That Fire Built," and the charity was Habitat For Humanity International. The band's goal is to raise $65,000 in donations to fully fund the construction of a home for Rhonda Floyd and her three children in Newport News, VA. Throughout the course of the project, Mae will document the progress as a home for Rhonda and her family is built.

Remember, the minimum donation is $1, but you can give more (hint, hint.) The tally so far is almost $3,500, and the band says they'll focus on that charity until the whole $65,000 is raised. Let's see if we can help them reach their goal by the end of the month.

For more information, visit Mae's website. You can hear the song for free, and then make a donation and download it.
