Denise Jonas shares insights on being a mom

denisejonas.JPGDenise Jonas - better known as the mother of pop teen sensation The Jonas Brothers - spoke last week at an iMom event in Brooklyn.

iMom Mornings are monthly get togethers that offer neutral ground for moms and kids to have fun bonding over topics such as peer pressure, obedience, the Internet, nutrition, organization, and building self-confidence.

In a press release, Denise Jonas kicked off her new role as iMOM ambassador by sharing some personal principles she's acquired in her own ups and downs as a sometimes-working/sometimes home and often-on-the-road mom:

Introducing Sin energy drink

I've written before about the endorsement of Trinity 3in1 Energy drink by Christian band SonicFlood (with more than a little snark; Christian energy drinks? Seriously?)

Sinvitalitydrink.JPGWell, here's one more entry into the spiritual energy drink war: Sin Vitality Drink.

Seriously. The drink is Sin and it comes in three flavors, Greed, Lust and Envy.

Sin is the newest product from Next Generation Beverage, which also produces Serenity Zen Beverage. The new Sin product will be launched at a Halloween party in Hoboken, New Jersey

Maybe the bar hosting the Sin Halloween Party will have some Trinity 3in1 available for the morning after?

Kevin Max's Monster Mash, October 30 in Nashville

monstermash.jpgIf you're in the Nashville area on Friday, October 30 (and you've recovered from what one person called the "Satan-athon" at Rocketown) you can head over to the Monster Mash, hosted by Kevin Max, at The Rutledge, 410 4th Ave South in downtown Nashville.

The 18 and over event will feature an evening of 80's-themed cover songs by dPulse Recordings artist (and former dcTalk member) Kevin Max, as well as special performances by KNAPSACKHEROES! and Collier.

Max took to his website in September to offer fans the opportunity to pick the playlist for the night, offering a list of 40 possible cover songs. The highest number of votes determined the set list:

MTV 2009 Video Music Awards: Kanye Rude, Taylor Crushed, Beyonce Saves The Day

MTV Shows

Last night Taylor Swift, accepting her award for Best Female Video for her song "You Belong With Me," her first VMA win ever, started her speech by saying, "I always dreamed about what it would be like to win one of these." I'm sure her dream didn't include Kanye West ruining her moment.

When the 19-year-old Swift won and started her speech, Kanye West grabbed the mic from her and proclaimed that Beyonce had "one of the best videos of all time."

Err ... ok ... that was ... professional ...

Nice, Kanye. Way to ruin a young girl's dream moment and embarrass both her and Beyonce.

Celebrate 40 Years Of The Carpenters' Music with "40/40"

Carpenters 4040.jpgHard to believe it was 40 years ago that brother and sister Richard and Karen Carpenter released their debut album. They went on to become the most successful brother-sister duo and one of the best selling artists of all time.

Now you can relive those memories with 40/40, produced by Richard Carpenter. The album includes all of the Carpenters' dozen Top 10 Pop hits, 19 of their 20 Top 40s and 23 of their 28 Top 75 Pop singles, from 1969's cover of the Beatles' "Ticket To Ride" to 1981's "Those Good Old Dreams."

The Carpenters' hit streak started with 1970's "Close To You" and ended in 1981 with their final Top 40 hit, "Touch Me When We're Dancing." Karen Carpenter died in 1983 after suffering for years from anorexia. She was one of music's most influential females; artists from Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani and Shania Twain to Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and Madonna have noted Karen Carpenter's influence on their careers. I remember watching her thinking, "Women can play the drums? How cool is that?"
