Cooking With Christian Music: Paula Parker's Chocolate Cup Cakes

MikeandPaulaParker.jpgIn this week's Cooking With Christian Music feature, we go off the stage and behind the scenes, with music writer (and my dear friend) Paula Parker.

Paula (pictured here with her husband and fellow writer, Mike) is one of those folks who covers entertainment for magazines and websites, in addition to dozens of other interesting and creative things she's involved in. While music fans see the artists on stage, there are dozens of people behind the scenes writing bios, interviewing artists for articles, and doing other invisible stuff that keeps the industry running. Currently, you can check out Paula's coverage of Christian entertainment at Examiner.com.

Oh, and did I mention that she's a chocoholic? That explains her recipe, for Chocolate Cup Cakes:

Cooking with Christian Music: Gourmet Egg Sandwich from MikesChair's Jesse Hale

JesseHaleMikesChair.jpgContinuing our Cooking with Christian Music feature, we have another recipe this week from MIKESCHAIR violinist and keyboardist - soon to be newlywed - Jesse Hale.

If you've missed the past couple of Cooking with Christian Music recipes, they've been from other members of MIKESCHAIR, and we have one left next week.

It's been fun to share these recipes, because the whole idea ties in nicely with the band's ministry, MikesTable.

It's the band's mission to invite everyone to bring a non-perishable food item to their shows, where every donated food item is then taken to local food banks and church outreach programs. This venture, which has actually been underway for a few years now, is continuing to grow as more items are donated at each concert.

"Our prayer is that people will leave our shows, not with a sense of how awesome the music is, but with a deeper sense of searching and begin asking questions that they weren't asking when they showed up," says the band's lead vocalist Mike Grayson.

So while you think about ways you can reach out to the needy in your own backyard, here's Jesse's recipe ...

Cooking With Christian Music: One Pot Chili From MIKESCHAIR's Sam Tinnesz

In this week's Cooking with Christian Music feature, we have another great recipe from MIKESCHAIR guitarist Sam Tinnesz: One Pot Chili.

MIKESCHAIR recently released their self-titled debut CD, a blend of pop rock and catchy choruses. Even more important than good music, the band encourages their fans to get involved in Mike's Table by asking them to support local charities and ministries, being the hands of Jesus to feed the hungry.

And on that note, here's this week's recipe:

Cooking With Christian Music: MIKESCHAIR's Mike Grayson Shares His Mom's Lasagna Recipe

MIKESCHAIR recently released their self-titled debut CD, a unique pop sound mixed with rock guitars, electronic textures, and bass grooves blended with catchy, anthemic, sing-along choruses. It's music that inspires action to change the world through love. The debut single, "Can't Take Away" was immediately a top 5 hit.

MikeGrayson.JPGIn this week's Cooking With Christian Music feature, Mike Grayson, lead vocalist for Curb Recording artist MIKESCHAIR, shares a recipe for lasgana. He said, it's "[O]ne of my favorite things my mom cooks!!!"

The idea of sharing food and music is at the heart of MIKESCHAIR. The band has created an outreach they call Mike's Table, where they ask their fans to get actively involved in being the hands and feet of Jesus to feed the hungry. The band supports ministrlies like Love146, Food for the Hungry, and International Justice Mission. But you can hear them talk more about it in the video above. Right now, here's Mike's mom's recipe for lasagna:
