Cleaning Good China and Crystal

posted by goquin

cleaning china tips, tip on cleaning china, china cleaning tipsAfter a party or family gathering, take special care in washing your china and crystal. If the china is antique or trimmed with gold or silver, hand-wash it (do NOT put into the dishwasher). Place a terry towel in the sink first you put the china or crystal in. Wash only one plate or glass at a time, so it can’t get chipped or cracked if several were in the sink. When washing crystal, hold each glass by the stem. Then use these hints.

If crystal glasses look cloudy, even after washing, dip each one into a warm vinegar rinse. If the cloudiness doesn’t disappear, the glasses could be permanently etched with scratches.
* Dry each glass immediately after washing with a lint-free cloth to prevent water spots.
* Store plates with a paper plate or coffee filter between each plate to prevent scratches or nicks. Then cover the stack with plastic wrap to stop dust from accumulating.
