Hindu Baby, One More Time!

Celebrity religious fads like this drive me crazy - stars jumping on a spiritual bandwagon, throwing themselves wholeheartedly into it for a couple of months, and then abandoning it like a fashion trend that's just so last season. These are religions that have been alive for thousands of years, and people have spent entire lifetimes studying and following them. Celebrities' cavalier attitudes don't trivialize the religions any (unless, I suppose, you're someone who takes what Britney Spears says to heart), but the faith-jumping trend certainly highlights the shallowness of some stars' beliefs and attitudes.

Then again, for all I know, perhaps I'm being too harsh and judgmental. Certainly it's easy to see Britney as a careless spiritual trend-surfer, but I think we could also be charitable and see an unformed young woman searching for spiritual guidance and enlightenment and following in the footsteps of people she respects and looks up to. In that case, perhaps it would be interesting to develop some kind of psychological or anthropological theory about why celebrities like Britney seem so much more inclined to faith-jumping than many people, and why they have this habit of immersing themselves almost fanatically into a faith for a little while, then abandoning it entirely. Thoughts, anyone?>

Celebrities always seem to be looking for permanence, even as they live lives that are ephemeral. Always changing roles, changing songs, changing cities, they seem to be looking for something that is just over the horizon. Perhaps that's why they change spouses so frequently.

On the other hand, young people tend to do this, also. They just don't get the same publicity about it.>

Yea, i agree with the idea that we should for once judge ourselves and think about what sorts of pathetic lives we lead to the extent that we dont have a second to pray because we're all so "busy",
at least shes taking time out of HER actually busy life to give her son some sort of spiritual mindset, although i am full blood sikh, i am very proud of her for choosing another amazing religion like hinduism, and so what if she didnt know what it was then, you cant expect people to know about all religions, so what, shes only human.
its pretty sad that everyones so out to jump at her for something shes doing on her own time, like i think my advice to everyone out here making stupid comments? its simple:
GET A LIFE,
let the woman do what she wants, who are YOU to judge her in the first place? i dont see you becoming a multi millionaire entertainer :S

save the criticism for someone who actually cares,
rather than sitting on your sorry a$$ all day long posting dumb-a$$ comments, go out and DO SOMETHING and help the world, find a cure for cancer, but dont criticize people you dont know, and probably never will....
try focusing on your own mistakes for once.
