It seems that fatherhood has brought out a devotion in Brad Pitt that transcends just sharing the same faux-hawk haircut with his adopted son, Maddox Jolie-Pitt.
Hello! Magazine reports that the Hollywood hunk has gotten a Buddhist blessing tattooed on his lower back to honor Maddox. Written in Sanskrit, “the body art, a prayer of protection for the little boy, matches five black columns that [Maddox's mother, Angelina Jolie] has etched on her shoulders,” the magazine reports.
Introduced to Buddhism while filming “Seven Years in Tibet,” Pitt was described as “not particularly spiritual” in a 1997 Time magazine cover story about the film and “America’s fascination with Buddhism.” In that same piece, he said that he’s “always paid attention to religion because I grew up in a religious background, but I’ve never felt a part of any of them.”
Perhaps this box-office superstar is just like many parents who turn, or return, to spirituality and faith when the kids arrive.

I would like to make a comment about Moses . Moses let his brother Aaron do all the talking etc. Moses stuttered and couldn’t speak well, that is why he was a sullen man. I.Pohle>

It occurred to me as I read this post that a parent’s tattoo symbolizing protection for their child is not so different from the charm braclets and “mother’s rings” that others use to declare their love. One is more traditional, the other a bit edgy. But both are all about the child… right? >

I love it when celebrities find religion. They never stick with anything “normal”…they’re too cool for that.>

How is Buddhism not “normal?”>

It seems like he did it just for Angelina, not really for the child… It’s just his way of making an excuse for that.>

It is great that many people are at least have some spirituality in them. The world is in a crazy place. There is no right or wrong way to pray and show your spirituality. It would be nice if the Baptist can see it this way.>

The citation of a 1997 comment is irrelevant… that was a long time ago! The interesting thing is the spiritual evolution and, as years passes, the need of a deeper meaning of existance.>

It just seems like the stars get a whim and “BAM” that’s what they do that day . . . nothing is lasting with them . . . if he wants to “HONOR” the child(ren) he adopts or has with Ms. Jolie, then the best thing he can do is STAY with Ms. Jolie. There’ll be an excuse for the day they split, too . . . will he then have the tattoo removed? DUH . . .>
