What can be said about the news revealed this week that football star turned B-list actor turned murder suspect in the “Trial of the Century” O.J. Simpson will be soon releasing a book called “If I Did It”? The book is a hypothetical telling of how he would have murdered his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman back in 1995, if only he’d actually done it.
Umm, extremely bad taste? Revolting? Shameless? Puke-inducing? Sick , sick, sick? Yes, all that and more. Now, he’s not saying that he did it, but if he had gruesomely murdered his ex-wife (and the mother of his children, who must be thinking, “What the h*ll?”), this book will explain how he would have done it.
You may be wondering why this sensationalistic news (there will, of course, be an O.J. interview on the Fox network during sweeps weeks) should even make into this Idol Chatter blog.
Think of it this way: This blog is about the intersection of pop culture, religion, faith, and spirituality. This book of O.J.’s is so removed from faith and spirituality, so indicative that this man has not a moral, faith-ful bone in his body, that it’s like a horrific 10-car pileup of pop culture, faith, and spirituality. If we had one, O.J. would definitely make into the Idol Chatter Hall of Shame.
Please, I urge you to join the O.J. boycott. Don’t read this book, don’t watch his interview. Though there are immoral people in this world like O.J., I must believe that there many more good souls.

I won’t join any boycott for anything, but, the chances are that I probably won’t buy the “If I Did It” book at all, and,I may not even watch the Fox network interview. I heard & read alot about the Simpson/Goldman case when it first broke 12 years ago, and, even read an excellent book called “Madam Foreman” by the woman who was the foreman of the jury in his criminal case, and it was about the jury’s experiences during the trial itself. They were sequestered for 267 days at a hotel in Los Angeles, and,it was a tough experience for them. My main point?Irregardless of what some people may think of Mr.Simpson’s morals,I believe that,at least as a result of this new book & upcoming interview, new light may be shed on the possibility that this double homicide was committed by a group of people who may have had something against Nicole Brown Simpson herself, and, after they killed her & Ronald Goldman, left the country.

I appreciate the sentiment behind this article. I am however dismayed to be subjected to this story one more time. I am disgusted by the amount of free publicity he’s gotten for this. This is not news, it’s filth and yet it was THE top story yesterday. By writing and talking about it, even if it is to boycott it, we are giving him the attention that he so obviously craves. The fact that no sane person should buy or read this book is obvious. His poor children. Imagine hearing daddy didn’t do it and then reading a book by daddy describing his fantasies about how he would have if he had. DISGUSTING. Peace, Deborah

And who are you to command such favor, Mr. Simpson was acquitted on all charges and yet you like countless others, still condemn him. You people are the ones that should be feared and band from society, “Judge Not Or Ye be Judged” The judicial system has been out of order for so long, it has become a big on going joke. From the stealing of the elections to the Ramsey’s blunder. But because OJ is of color and stuck it in the white-man’s ass, they just can’t let it go. Let it go and let OJ go on with his life. Let people make up their own minds about what books to buy and what to watch on Television. I m not for OJ or against him but I m for a man s right to be. God Bless.

I’m with the last guy. He was found not guilty by a jury of his peers. Why, 12 years later, is there still a majority of the public still laying the blame square on his shoulders. No, I won’t buy the book, may glance at the interview, but all in all, that’s my choice, just as it is yours as to whether or not you boycott. My mother always says, “If God were like man…”. All I can say is I don’t know whether or not he did it, I wasn’t on the jury…but as to his guilt or innocence…..the judicial system, such as it is, has spoken and he has been found not guilty. Leave him to live his life as he chooses. Guilty? Innocent? God is my only judge. Who’s yours?

OJ was and is as guilty as sin! I will not buy or contibute to his monetary gain in any way whatsoever nor will I watch ANYTHING on TV re: this killer. Why would OJ even want to bring up this terribly sad and tragic situation again by writing a book and doing interviews to promote it? He was found guilty in the civil suit and the poor families of Nicole and Ron have yet to have seen anything from that and NOW OJ is back in the news again to promote a sick & disgusting book of how he would have committed the murders of the mother of his children. OJ won’t even let them RIP. I wish I never heard his name again.>

SO WHAT!!! Nicole Brown Simpson’s family sure didn’t turn down any of the $ that they received from O.J.’s fame and fortune.. I feel they sold out their daughter a long, long time ago.. Rememer you get what you Play or Pay for… To bad To sad.. But the one I feel sorry for is Ron Goldman’s family that poor kid (no matter who killed them) was in the wrong place at the wrong time.>

I will watch the interview because I’d like to see what goes on inside his mind. It’s a rare opportunity to see what a (maybe) killer will say from his perspective. I would tune into see what Hitler, Jim Jones, the Boston Strangler etc would say to to explain their behaviour, what led them to do such extreme actions. Of course he is saying that it is fiction, but I feel the truth will come through. I don’t condone any murderers’actions, but I want to hear what he has to say.

I PERSONALLY FEEL HE IS QUILTY, I WOULD NOT BUY OR WATCH ANYTHING TO DO WITH O.J.SIMPSON. HE’S NOT WORTH MY TIME. AND I CAN FIND BETTER THINGS TO BUY WITH MY MONEY LIKE T-PAPER FOR THE BATHROOM.

Guilty or not, he’s putting people through hell. Anyone whoever loved either of the poor victims is now having to relive that tragedy over a decade later. If it was such a terrible, emotional, and heart-breaking time for O.J., then I don’t believe he’d ‘invent’ the way he would have killed them. If anything, I’d say that he learned a bit about double jeopardy while going through all the trials and feels that he’s now untouchable. As for the actual boycott? I may watch clips of the interview, simply to see, as someone else said, what is going through his mind, and how he can possibly defend such unruly and treacherous actions; besides, if it’s on Fox, they’re likely to tear him apart, which would be quite a joy to see. Now, if O’Reilly got a hold of h im, I’d pay for that! But seriously, can anyone say that after the murder of a spouse, especially one that you’ll always have the bond of offspring w., could you actually fathom writing a descriptive story on how you’d have killed him/her, had you been the killer?!

Let’s also not dismiss the fact that most homocidal men who kill their wives also happened to physically abuse their wives before they murdered them out of jealousy. You think God would forgive that? Please do NOT throw religion in the face of this. If O.J. was as pious as some make him out to be, he would have been serving for what he put his family through and I mean Nicole as well, a LONG time ago!And how interesting that half his friends are no longer his friends. Why is that? If a man is righteous and innocent, they will retain their friends no matter what. Fact is,whether O.J. did the deed himself of had an accomplice do it, the man has blood on his hands and worse in his soul. Karma, karma, and karma! It’ll happen and it already has. Unfortunately, O.J.’s children are the victims along with the other family members who are still alive having to miss the loss of their loved ones. And my aren’t their judgmental people to say anything about Nicole’s family? How do you know how you would act if a loved one died? Has that happened to you? There is no way I would touch anything that will help him prosper. Just like it was mentioned above, that if Hitler or any other cold-blooded socio-path wrote a book on how we would have commited a murder,I wouldn’t need to read a book on such evil. Yes, evil…I don’t believe in THE “devil” but I believe abuse (in all forms), lying, murdering and then writing a book to capitalize on an event that was so full of pain and darkness for so many people is as close to the devil as you can get. God help us all!

I agree with some of what you are doing because I personally think this is a Disgusting idea! In my opinion it makes me think that He did do it,mainly because now He is releasing a book about how He would have Murdered his exwife, and to Me thats pretty much saying He did it,and this is his way of Laughing and Joking about it!Purely Disgusting, and it makes Me sick to my Stomach!

How ridiculous could we get ? Who are you to tell us to boycott the book and interview ? Society has shut this man out— won’t even give him a job. A court of law said he was NOT GUILTY. He is merely saying, ” I did NOT do it. If I did it, here is how it would have happened. ” One sector of society (you know which one) has “decided” that he should be guilty, and refuse to accept the notion that he may be innocent. If he was guilty, why did Mark Furman and the others have to lie in court? Please explain all the stabbings to each of the dead bodies? Did Simpson kill one of them, and the second victim wait their turn for him to kill them afterwards?

I also think people should boycott the interviews as well as the book. O.J. should not benefit from this new publicity. The man is mocking all of us.>

No one is ‘telling’ anyone to boycott anything. It’s simply a request, one that no one was made to reply to or even read. If it makes some of you, jhalm, so mad, how about unsubscribing to the site and perhaps your life will be more peaceful. Unless of course, you just like to gripe. Have a wonderful night!

I have been working with Denise Brown for the past several years. I know her both as a co-worker and dear friend. Since the death of Denise’s sister, Nicole, her life has been dedicated to reaching out to victims to help them find help, hope, and healing. She is working with our company, Gambaru Productions, Inc. and some of the country’s leading safety experts to create a TV series, book and website (http://www.predators.tv) to help people avoid becoming victims of predators. It is distressing to know that TV networks and book publishers seem willing to pay money to murderers (either through somebody else or whatever arrangement they have made) and have not supported a valuable, potentially life-saving, series like Predators. The O.J. Simpson book (and television interview describing it) provide a manual for showing predators how to kill and get away with it. As a former victim of domestic abuse, I am outraged and sickened that he has been given this platform to profit from the lives taken. You can help to make a difference; please help turn this evil for good by donating the money you would have spent on this book to a local women s shelter in your area. To find a domestic violence program in your area, please use this link: http://www.usdoj.gov/ovw/statedomestic.htm Please help support us in our efforts and forward this letter on to all! I find the content of this book is very poor taste. I feel this is the very selfish act of a man who has not given proper consideration to the effect this type of material will have on those he supposedly loves and cherishes. It is not, in my humble opinion, the way to handle the tragedy of such a loss. And for only these reasons I will not participate in it’s promotion in any way.

I would hope that this book will not be a commercial success. I want to believe there are more people with morals and values than the ones who are morbidly interested in such sad news. It is so disrespectful to Nicole and her children whether he did it or not. He is mocking everyone.

Correction to all those defending OJ and being a bit judgemental while condemning others of the same sin. ONE jury found him innocent and ONE jury did not. The color that affected the outcome of the innocent verdict was GREEN aka “money talks and the guilty sometimes walk”. That has been a travesty of justice between all wealthy and poor. If this book does not show you the true depravity of this man, no wonder you can still harbor an illusion of his innocence.

I hate OJ Simpson.
I think he is the sadest example of what happens to a human being (black or white).
