TomKat: Separation of Scientology and State

posted by Paul O'Donnell | 4:13pm Tuesday November 14, 2006

Are Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes going to be married before they get to the altar? The couple has booked a romantic, 15th-century castle north of Rome, and international singing star Andrea Bocelli will sing. Katie’s dad has even overcome his misgivings and wishes for a Catholic wedding and agreed to give Katie away.

But unless the Italian government is working from a special rulebook for celebrities, the religious ceremony–a Scientologist minister will officiate–will have to be preceded by a civil marriage. “A religious marriage is not so easy for non-Italians,” says a website that arranges dream weddings in Italy, especially if you are not Catholic. “If you wish to marry in a non-Catholic church,” says italy-weddings.com, “it is almost impossible to do so without first obtaining a civil marriage license.”

Because of Italy’s strong historic association with the Roman church, even mainstream Protestant clergy are not automatically licensed to marry in Italy, much less Scientologist ministers. Insiders dismiss reports that the wedding won’t be legal, saying the couple has done “all the necessary paperwork.” But that phrase, associated on most wedding-in-Italy sites with registering your civil bond, only lends support to the idea that a civil bond will unite the pair before Scientology pronounces them man and wife.

What a messed-up couple of “people”! (I use the term “people” rather LOOSELY here. LMAO!) My God! Poor Katie Holmes. How, when, and where did she “go off the edge” in her life; in getting to THIS point of joining Scientology – and marrying Tom Cruise? When any human being – in this case, Katie – is THIS lost on their pathway in life; they are subject to attracting negative karma (e.g., Tom Cruise, scientology, and other negative entities) and end up being desperate enough to follow ANY belief system. How VERY sad.Well, at least Katie has the required membership for Scientology: LOTS OF MONEY! :( Scientology IS a cult. And speaking of “going off the EDGE”, what EVER drove Tom to be the freak he has turned into? Just a fricking FREAK! What does God think of all this, anyway?

God has nothing to do with Scientology. It’s all about Xenu, remember? I wonder how long before she is ex-wife #3? If this were a book we would call it foreshadowing.

I agree Hurricane, In cases like this I do belive we need to be in prayer for our girl KAtie. I know that I thought she was lucky in love with Klien, but her & Tom that is just a strange match. I know in this country we have freedom of religion, BUT when you are planted in faith you don’t jump on bandwagons, you primarily stick with what you know, even if it’s not your usual religion. (i.e. I grew up Southern Baptist, but now go to non denominational because I married a Catholic who likes to visit a Tabernackal church) I don’t know but I thik Katie needs prayer and a stronger spirit which she can get through faith. Who know s maybe scientology will move her back to her original ways. She might feel a seperation from the creator at some point and when that happens I hope her mom & dad are right there. Sometimes it happens.

Best of luck to the two of them! Real people and real love surpass all else!
