I once referred to comic and D-List celebrity Kathy Griffin as “my favorite atheist” because I have enjoyed her self-deprecating humor on her reality series, “My Life on the D List." But her acceptance speech at last weekend's creative Emmys (you know, the ones not considered important enough to be televised at the real Emmy event this weekend) left me cringing at her mock conversion experience.
When Griffin won her Emmy, she revealed what she truly idolizes when she made this classless comment: "Hell has frozen over. Suck it, Jesus, this award is my God now."
Sure, the woman who once started a rumor on the red carpet that child actress Dakota Fanning was in rehab has been known to say almost anything to garner more attention. And sure enough, since the ceremony, Griffin has been blasted by the Catholic League and will have her speech censored when shown this Sunday on tape
And she is now defending herself as being misunderstood once again.
However, this time I just can't defend Griffin. Such a remark was not only blatantly offensive (I am sure she would not tolerate such a disgusting remark comment toward one of her "gays," as she calls her homsexual fan base), but her comments revealed her to be a worshipper as well as a slave to the same ego-driven, attention-starved lifestyle of the A-list stars she mocks.

really there are Christian celebrities and they should be standing up for Jesus and reacting to kathy
I just would like to know for all of you atheists how can you believe the world and all things included just happened years ago from nothing. Last time I took math and science, zero plus zero still equaled zero. I know you believe the concept of God is ridiculous, but come on now, how much more ridiculous is your belief. I am not the most intelligent person in the world but I am smart enough to know that you cannot take nothing and get something. So I am going to believe in a God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit and someday when I am in Heaven I will feel sorry for all of you who did not want to believe that someone created all of this. My story is more believable than yours. I have a wonderful life,I enjoy my family, my friends, and God. My prayer is that everyone would believe and accept salvation.
Marlene:
Not to worry about me and my not getting to a heaven I don't believe in.
Big Bag theory works for me as to earth's formation as well as evolution in the formation of humans. I can live with starting in the ocean and working my (our) way to the top of the food chain through little creatures and apes etc. Much scientific evidence for all that...I'll go with the science, not an invisible being that demands attention and watches everyone.
BTW, what am I supposed to be saved from, if I accepted Salvation?
Started out in a Christian home and at 17 decided fairy tales weren't for me. That was over 40 years ago. I'm fine and so are the thousands who are non-believers.
Kathy G. has the right to her statements just as you and others have the right to not listen to her.
Kathy Griffin is just another in a long line who feel that attacking Jesus Christ will gain her brownie points in Hollywood. Those of us who love The Lord realise that if only she knew the Love of God through repentance of sin and turning TO Jesus, how wonderful her life would be. Her words do nothing except condemn her soul further.
I thought I liked her, WELL NEVER MIND that!! SHE'S TRULY DISSAPOINTED ME!! pft kathy!!
