Burn, Bruce, Burn!

Click Here to Listen to "Radio Nowhere" from "Magic"

Doug Howe has already spread the good news of the new Bruce Springsteen album in this space, joining a chorus of hand-clapping reviewers since "Magic" debuted this fall. (A.O. Scott at the New York Times outdid them all, with a fabulous piece that combined reviewery, reportage, and fan-boy worship.) But here at Burn or Burn, we wanted to make sure your iPods, computers, cars, ring tones, and any other preferred listening mechanisms were fully equipped with the Boss, because he's having a rock n' roll revival all his own, and if you love music, you don't want to miss any of it.

'Dog's' in the Doghouse After Using 'N' Word

bountyhunterbigpicic.jpgReality TV star Duane Dog" Chapman of A&E's hit show, "Dog the Bounty Hunter" has publicly apologized after a private phone conversation where he repeatedly used the "N" word was leaked to the "National Enquirer" and made public.

In a conversation with his son, (click here to listen to a clip, but be warned, the language is explicit.) Tucker, Chapman expressed concerns about his girlfriend, who is black, because he felt that she would out him to the news media if she heard him say anything she deemed racist---since he admitted he sometimes uses the "N" word. During the conversation, he also noted that if the public knew that he used such a word, he would have everything taken away from him and they would jump to the conclusion that he was a racist.

In the recorded phone call he said that when he—or someone else on his bounty hunting team says the N-word that, "We don't mean f------ scum n----- without a soul. We don't mean that. But America would think we mean that."

Say a Prayer for Your Favorite TV Shows

Have you, like fellow blogger Donna, fallen in love with "Pushing Daisies"? Or are you like me, and you become a little anxious whenever "House" goes on hiatus? Or maybe you can't go to bed without your nightly dose of Jon Stewart.

Well, in that case, you might want to send up a prayer that today, on All Saints Day, a strike between the Writer's Guild of America and Hollywood Producers will be averted. With the contract expiring and negotiations proceeding poorly for months now, most Hollywood insiders think a strike is inevitable.
