Brit’s Mom Writes Christian Memoir

Tuesday November 13, 2007

Categories: Books, Celebrities

As her life has unraveled before our eyes, much has been made of the mother-daughter rift between Britney Spears and her mother, Lynne. One possible reason for the rift might be found in the recent news that Lynn Spears has signed with Christian publisher Thomas Nelson to co-write a memoir that will be released close to Mother's Day in 2008.

The memoir, entitled "Pop Culture Mom: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World" is being developed with the help of Lorilee Craker, a Christian author who has written numerous parenting books. Craker has been working with Lynne Spears since March on the project and describes the book as a "the truth, but it's based in love." Craker also defends Lynne Spears as "one of the kindest, most decent people."

What has not been mentioned in any of the press releases related to this publishing coup is whether or not Jesus or faith fits into the woeful tale of the Spears family, or if the Christian marketplace has simply become as adept at exploiting celebrities as the secular marketplace.
