Switchfoot performing on the Tonight Show
Switchfoot’s debut album Legend of Chin came out in 1997, it was a fun, anthemic rock album that stretched the boundaries of Christian rock. Fourteen years later, the band is still bringing it. Seeing Switchfoot live at the National in Richmond, VA

Denzel Washington is a man with integrity and great morals. Anyone who has seen movies featuring him knows that quality and a life-giving message is usually the character of Mr. Washington.I resent the fact that you say he is as articulate in a interview as he is in his movies. Why wouldn’t he be? There a millions of articulate persons who would put you to shame when it comes to expression and articulation of this “english” language.
Hats off to Mr. Washington, keep up the good work – the messages you send are well received.
A loyal and proud fan!

That is the same comment made about Barack Obama when he ran for Senator of Illinois. There are obviously those who are not accustomed to articulate, upstanding, Christian, men…how sad it is that you felt the need to include that in your little article. How many people approach you stating how articulte you are (as if that is some sort of badge of honor)? You, my dear, have an interesting way of fooling the public with your subtle way with words. Unfortunately, these are the types of games the media plays to sway viewers’ thoughts of others…shame on you for hiding behind Beliefnet to do what you are trying to do!

Did you expect him to speak as inarticulate as Archie Bunker?

It is very refreshing to have a African American living in LA who still loves the LORD….who has a beautiful wife(Paula)…it’s not even about the color of your skin…but your character. I hope that one day that not only will I have the opportunity to meet you…but also talk about the goodness of the LORD…..MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU.

I very much enjoyed watching the movie, The Great Debaters. I was moved by the film and Mr. Washingtons perseverance to demonstrate to the world what racism looked like in 30′s Texas.
Thank you Mr. Washington. I appreciate your movies and may God always guide you to touch the lives of millions with you ability to produce great films.

I love the movie wonderful performances I think that this would be a good turn around for Wiley College, but at the same time Denzel donates a million dollars for a debate team at Wiley College the question we should be asking are selves is the money going to be use directly for that purpose or will it be use to purchase new cars. Has anyone looked into the financial problems Wiley has been in? Wiley’s faculty and staff had to take a pay cut due to money missing. What about some of our students that are promised a full scholorship and only get half of it or nothing at all. Student that get financial aid and once they start the semester they take there finacial aid away from them. I think that Wiley should have this debate team I think Denzel its doing a great thing by donating the money I also hope that enrollment increases but I just hope the money get used for the debate team if not you will notice new cars and equipment being bought with that money.

I applaud and admire Mr. Washington. I thank you for being honest in sharing that though you were raised in the church as I was as a child and young adult you felt a sense of obligation therefore strayed or ventured out; checked out things but have returned to Christiandom as I have. It was no suprise to God. And I’m also happy that you act upon what God leads you to do no basing it on what other’s think like donating large amounts of money to a school that seemingly continues to have financial problems. I know that you check things out, you’re know fool you know what people are saying about what’s happening to the funds at that school but you choose to let God lead you and you are obedient to His Will. To you I say “You go Mr. Washington”. May God continue to shower His blessings upon you!!!

The interview by Michael Kress was one of the most interesting and enlightening interviews with Mr. Washington that I have read in a long time. Mr. Washington’s responses were open and inspiring. I love the fact that he has taken his spiritual upbringing on the road with him and continues to let his light shine for Jesus. I have enjoyed Denzel in every movie that I have seen him in, which is every movie that he has been in, and as long as he continues to bring characters to life on the big screen I will continue to support him. I had often wondered why his character in “Training Day” had to die at the end of the movie, but after reading his response it all makes sense to me now. He brought it all home when he said that after he had read the script he notated on it that, “The wages of Sin is Death” now that in itself is powerful, but to have your character die at the end because you don’t want to send out the wrong message to your young, or older fan’s is even more powerful. Love and blessings to you Mr. Washington forever.

I SAW THE MOVIE THE GREAT DEBATERS. THE MOVIE WAS EXCELLANT MR DENZEL WAS ALWAYS ONE OF MY FAVORITE ACTORS. HE AND THE OTHER ACTORS ARE REMARKABLE, HE HAS TO GO DOWN AS ONE OF THE GREATEST ACTORS IN HISTORY.BEING A CHRISTIAN MAKES HIM EVEN GREATER. I am a 64 year old woman who has admired Mr Washington for years. I try to buy all his movies when they come out on vhs or cdv. I watch them over & over & think he one of the most taltented men in the business. His devotion to his wife & family is a testament of his goodness. Keep up the good work & GOD will keep blessing you.
I am also white & southern & can say with no doubt there is no prejudice in my heart at all. Take our skin away & we are all blood, skin & bones underneath.
By the way, what did you do for your wife on your 25th anniversary ? In another blog you had ask your fans for ideas & I’m curious what you did.
