When the Chicago Daily Herald recently asked random celebs’ “Which person, living or dead, would you most like to spend the day with?” the no. 1 answer was “Jesus,” though, frankly, the Good Lord has spent time in better company than the crop of B-listers who answered the Herald’s phone call.
Those who wanted to hang with the Christian Messiah included Rick Tramanto, a lesser light in that ever-softening category of “celebrity chef”; actress Linda Evans; Olympic gymnast Dominique Dawes; and rocker George Thorogood (of the Destroyers). Not exactly Moses and Elijah. (The next most popular answer, from Bill Cosby, Weird Al, actor Fred Savage and guitar hero Ted Nugent, was “my wife.” Now that’s a bunch I could chill with!)
More dispiriting yet was the fact that Thorogood wanted to meet Jesus only for the historical bragging rights, and seemed to have an anti-Christian agenda. “He’s arguably the most famous person in history, and as a history buff I’d be interested in meeting him,” said the former leader of the Destroyers. “But I’d also like to say to him, “Take some advice. Keep your religious beliefs to yourself.” Uh, George, wouldn’t that kind of put a crimp in Jesus’s historical value?

certainly, Jesus would ‘hang’ with Bono from U2.

In Jesus’ life he actually hung around with the lowest of the low: tax collectors, prostitutes and the like. It was the so called righteous religious people that had a problem with Jesus.

I really don’t think it’s going to be nice, not harmfull mind you,my Father in Heaven is a very Loving Father, but He does not care for comments like that about his One and only Son!!!!!!! “What Greater Historical Event in all the World is there but the Birth,Life,Death, and Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ???”
well…
it’s very likely that his birth was common and ordinary…
no great historical event there…
and death by crucifixion was fairly common then as well…
no great historical event there…
and the Resurrection is most likely an invented Myth…
no history at all there…
so…
what’s left is the history of his mortal life and his teaching…
yes, it would have been interesting to “hang” with him for a day…
perhaps then it could be detected what it was about him that made his followers invent so many Myths about him…
happy new year faith hope love joy peace to all…

I do think the more interesting question is: Who would Jesus want to hang with?
And yes, Bono might be on the list…

Jesus did hang with sinners, of course. The odd thing is, he inspired them all to repentance. It was the sinners who refused to repent who also refused to “hang” with him. According to Luke’s Gospel, he hung with one of each at the end.
This is one sinner who would not refuse to hang with Jesus.

Jesus, he did not came into this world to make anyone a christain.
As a matter of fact he wasen’t sent to you, if you are a christian, because he was sent only to the house of Israel. God sent every prophet to his own people only, the only exception was Propht Muhammad, for he was the final prophet, and therefore he was sent to all humans. Jesus was sent to the people of Israel ONLY. If so, those non-Israelis who followed Jesus did so against the teachings of Jesus, simply because Jesus was not sent to them. Here are some evidences from the gospels themselves:
1.The Magi came to Jerusalem upon hearing of the birth of Jesus and asked,”where is he that is born king of the Jews?” Although Jesus was not a king of the Jews, nor did he want to become one, the text proves the speciality of the message of Jesus. i.e., that he was sent to the people of Israel ONLY. 2. Herod became angry at the news of the birth of Jesus (Matt. 2:3) and asked about him. He was told that the book of the Jews prophesied tha from Bethlehem ”shall come a governor that “shall rule my people Israel.”(Matt 2:6) Again this proves that Jesus was meant to be for the people of Israel ONLY.3.Jesus said to his disciples,”Give not that which is holy unto the DOGS, neither cast ye your pearls before SWINES.(Matt.7:6) Who are the dogs and the swines whom Jesus is referring to here? They are the Gentiles,i.e.. anyone is non- Iraelis. So beware!! Jesus classifies people into two categories: the Israelis and the DOG-SWINE non-Israelis. He Says that he is sent to the people of Israel ONLY. 4. Why were the disciplies of Jesus twelve? Because the Israeli tribes were twelve. He meant that each disciple of his would preach to one of the twelve tribes of the people of Israel. 5. Jesus gave the following orders to his disciples, “GO NOT into the way of the Gentiles and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” (Matt. 10:5-6). No orser can possibly be clearer than this order. He plainly commanded his disciples not to preach to non-Israelis, i.e., the Gentiles. Why? Because God sent Jesus to the people of Israel ONLY and Jesus followes the commands of God.

Hi Daniel,
Have you ever considered the “great comission” of Matthew 28:18-20?
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

Jesus as human felt overloaded even to save the people of Israel, but he himself when he cured that centurion’s bondman, said that many from Est and West will stay at table with Avram and Isaac in the Kingdom of GOD.

According to the scriptures, from the moment of his resurrection and ascension, it is now possible to speak with Jesus everyday of our lives in prayer. We can know what he thinks by reading the gospels, and we can receive his Spirit into our hearts as a gift we do not deserve, if we are ready to be humble enough to confess we are sinners and to be cleansed from our sin by His blood shed on the Cross. This is the daily experience of those who take his words seriously to heart.
He brings us new birth and the first instalment of everlasting life during this life on earth. We experience him in the fellowship of his people – the body of Christ. He really is a person and his character is holy love. By his grace we are given a relationship with him for ever. This is why he died to make this possible for anyone who comes to him by faith, and who do not even hope that their own good works will impress him. He then patiently builds his character into our lives by his undeserved grace. It is all by His grace alone.

I think that if I could spend a day with Jesus he could give me a little more insight about why ther is such suffering and pain in my life and understand why I don’t really let it go like everyone else. He knows that there really is no end that we never truely end in life we go on to live the next life. I hope I’ve learned well and paid my dues in this life so the next life can be a little sweeter. I try my best to be kind and help others, and dont take life for granted nor take what is offered to me for granted even the bad. As the old saying goes ” YOU CAN’T KNOW WHAT GOOD IS IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT IS BAD ” the trick is learning to balance.

While George Thorogood may not have the most spiritual of intentions or desires set for meeting Christ, and I also agree that the Lord has spent time in better company, does that mean that he would have any less of a desire to spend time with any one of his children? I don’t think so.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” St. John 3:16
In my opinion, this isn’t saying that God loved the Earth [though She behaves better than the majority of his children =P], but the world. Everything and everyone on it. If you had a child that went astray, would you not continue to love them and spend time with them? Just because you have been around ‘better people’, wouldn’t you still want to spend time with your child?
God would.

I think it is sad that the celebrities don’t realize they can hang with Jesus everyday, I do. He is my best friend, he goes everywhere with me, he is never to busy to hear my words, never to busy to share a meal, he is with me when I open my eyes each morning and the last one I say good night to when I go to sleep. It is so nice to have such a personal relationship with him, I can’t describe it. I hope others will open their heart to him and he will be their best friend as well. God Bless!

Why does the new christian church teach legalism or tithing when the new covenant teaches free will giving under grace? The new covenant churches cannot find scripture in the new covenant because it is not there and they take the old laws and try to justify tithing. It is pure greed and twisting the scriptures to fit mans needs. Go to the web page wwwshouldthechurchteachtithing for your answer.
