Jesus is My (Prison) Copilot: Foxy Brown on Coping With Incarceration
Rapper Foxy Brown just finished serving time (8 months in Rikers) for smacking a Brooklyn neighbor with her BlackBerry. While that might not sound like a prisonworthy offense, it was a violation of her probation, which itself was the result...
She sounds a bit high-and-mighty, if not megalomaniacal. If she is truly a Christ-follower, then it would suit her to take a few tips from Him.
Jesus didn't have to "dress to the nines" in order to get noticed, especially when fellowshipping with others and worshipping God. Is she trying to impress God/Jesus by going to church in high fashion? I assure you, Foxy, He is not impressed and really couldn't care less about fashion! You will have a much more rewarding relationship with God if you leave your material possessions at His doorstep. And really, why would you lose any fans if they found out you go to church? At least three quarters of Americans are Christian, most of them church-goers. You'll probably end up getting MORE of a fan base.
Tip #2: Quit smackin' people around! Jesus is not a bully! In fact, I believe his philosophy was to turn the other cheek when people got up in his face about something. God rewards humbleness. Repeat that to yourself every time someone pisses you off. GOD REWARDS HUMBLENESS!
People tend to judge those that are on their christian journey. First, lets remember that we all have sin and come short of his glory. Donnie McClurkin says it best" We all fall down, but we get back up again". A lot of us is not where we need to be, but we are not where we use to be. All I am trying to say is that we sometime get off the right road but the key to that is to get back on that road again. Detours are going to come, but up to that person to re-find their way.
Foxy, has serve her time through the system so why would anyone judge her walk. She is entitle to dress anyway she wants to, but she was describe by someone else. She dresses up for her concerts why not look good for God.
She has to dress to the 9s. Otherwise she gets tagged as being uncaring toward God. There's no way for her to win. I hope she gets the counseling she needs on keeping her temper. It's not serving her interests at all hitting people.
She has much to learn!
I heard Foxy Brown put Shomari Stone on her album because she thought he was cute. He broke the story about her arrest on CBS. I agree. Shomari is handsome. But I wouldn't describe him as cute.
I hope this clears things up. The Miami Herald reported on Shomari Stone's relationship to Foxy Brown.
Here is the truth. This article appeared in teh Miami Herald (Miami’s #1 Newspaper). It explains what happened.
Pretty Foxy: WFOR-CBS4’s Stone, Rodriguez

Cool dudes: WFOR-CBS4’s Shomari Stone and Eliott Rodriguez. Their voices — audio samples from a CBS4 newscast — are on the title track of rapper Foxy Brown’s latest album, Brooklyn’s Don Diva. The newsmen were reporting on Foxy’s Feb. 16 release from Broward County jail following her arrest in a fight at a Pembroke Pines beauty supply store.
Stone and Rodriguez’s voices pop up in the first few seconds of the first cut. Stone was live at Queen Beauty Supply, providing voice-over for footage of her getting out of North Broward Detention Center. Rodriguez was anchoring.
Stone, heard first, says Foxy ”is led out of jail with her friend escorting her to an awaiting cab.” Then, Rodriguez: ”New video just released within the past several hours shows what led up to the arrest of a popular rap star. Foxy Brown was just released after spending a long night in jail.” Then you hear Foxy.
Stone and Rodriguez are surprised their audio made the album. ”We had no clue,” Stone says. They found out after radio personality Supa Cindy talked about it on her morning show on WEDR 99 JAMZ.
Supa Cindy recognized Stone’s voice on the CD’s promotional copy. ‘I said, `My God, that sounds like Shomari.’ ‘
Koch Records released the album in May — apparently without permission from CBS to use the copyrighted excerpts, available on CBS4’s website. Rodriguez says he’s heard the track, peppered with profanity. “I believe in artistic expression. I just wouldn’t let my kids listen to it.”
Foxy, 29, whose name is Inga Marchand, is on six months’ probation after pleading no contest in April to misdemeanor battery and resisting arrest without violence. Cops say she threw a temper tantrum at the store, hurled a tube of hair glue at an employee and spit on him. Part of the plea deal required her to attend an anger management course.
